Installing FTX Global....???

Ok....I have been thinking about taking the leap and buying FTX Global. I love the airports and I own all of the NA areas and the scenery and ground textures....so...my question is this.

Should I buy this scenery.......do I install it with the base FSX scenery selected in the FTX control panel? Or....do I just leave it set up with NA regions selected?

Thanks folks!!

I use mine with Prepar3d and run it with both in conjunction with the other Orbx titles that I own. It really dresses up other areas that are outside the original Orbx scenery titles.

You install it with default selected in FTX Central. You are asked if you want to back up the default textures and I would suggest yes. You then have the option to run FTX in hybrid mode which allows you to fly from any region to any other region without having to switch regions in FTX Central.

Roger that!....Roger....lol Thank you

Hey Skyhawk,

Id also recommend it highly. It's just a much nicer set of textures when you are out in the wilds. Plus the 3d lighting is pretty fantastic looking.

Skyhawk, big advance for FSX and P3D in scenery. I have uninstalled my GEX and love FTX Global. They have used Google Earth or some similar program for roads, waterways etc. They fit perfectly with my recently uploaded KRDD scenery. You will not regret the purchase.

Just downloading FTX Global now (so I have half an hour or so to kill!) - and sorry if this is something I'll read when I open the manual - but assuming you have more than one ORBX regional scenery pack already (say PNW and CRM), why would you ever chose to do anything other than run in 'hybrid mode'? Or put another way, what is the 'cost' of running in hybrid mode?
Thanks.

I don't understand the technicalities of hybrid but you may find some textures/landclass issues. I always use hybrid and haven't detected any major issues yet.

Ok then, sounds like a good approach to start with. Cheers, Roger :salute:

Roger, would you run FTX Global in hybrid mode if all you had was the base FTX Global and no other areas? Right now, that's all I'll be adding is the base FTX Global over a stock FSX.

My 2 cents, have same setup - FTX Global only, just install it, the patch, and latest ORBX library.
There will be no hybrid option, only FTX global.
I was so confident on install (for $100 I'd not be going back to stock or freeware textures) I skipped the backup step and saved time and space.

Just check ORBX trees in FTX Central (I really like them) and then click apply and you're good to go.
