Installing OFF2

Makes me wonder if Windows Defender or some other Anti-Spyware proggie might be blocking that ActiveX control??

Just a guess.....don't run Vista here.......yet (omg....did I actually say that??):redf:
 
You will get an active x error when running it at the start think it's the splash or the movie but usually ignore it and it works. If it doesn't work and you followed all the Vista install steps posted a few times, and it doesn't work I have no idea.

I suggest wait for P3 as this is designed to run in vista.
 
One thing occurs to me is, if I still haven't got OFF2 to work by the time I receive OFF3 (which, I am afraid ,at the moment is looking very likely) will it install over my non-working OFF2?
 
OFF3 installation won't require OFF2 to be present so I don't believe OFF3 would reuse any of the old 'bits' of OFF2. Shouldn't be a problem. Just to be sure you could of course delete all traces of OFF2 beforehand.

OK, my mistake! When installing OFF I was applying the hotfix 1.9e without first installing the 1.9 update. This is what messed up my install. Imagine I did the same mistake 4 times:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:.

Anyway, its working now and looks great. Ready to get Between Heaven and Hell.

However, the ActiveX message still appears, although I just close it and OFF works fine. I tried disabling Avast and Windows Defender but it kept appearing. No problem, I just have to do one more click. I wonder if it will still be there in P3.

I think, I need the file from OFF. But you may perhaps send them both. When you just add OFF to the file name in your explorer after copying, I know which is what; I'll rename the file here then before adding it to the games. Sent you a PM with mail address. Thank you for helping.

TO EVERYONE HAVING PROBLEMS RUNNING THE GAME
A friend of mine said, he experienced, that the game is running better on his PC, when he doesn't install the patch and the final hotfix.
So, it might be worth to try out the game every step, before installing the next patch.
Still though, neither he nor I can play campaigns - only "Quick Flights"

And to all you others for questions and answers; it all may help to find out.
Will do a reinstall after POLOVSKI's and GIMPY's advice. My problem seem to be the MISSION and CAMPAIGN things; can only fly QUICK COMBAT, but at least that works again. Should I throw the folders for those out of the CFS3 folder (I installed CFS3 on C:, and OFF Phase 2 on E:, and so there are MISSION and CAMPAIGN folders in both of them).
Anyway, I'll do all that POL said for reinstall, and then report, if it worked.

Life's a Beach. I'm sure that if the game was written in Dueseldorf. My computer would need to think in German. But it wasn't.

Some of our German friends, wish to have their cake, and eat it too.

I can tell you right now 1.9 the Super Patch was an assembly of the previous patches 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and so on.

1.9e or the Hotfix as it is known, eliminated a problem called the "Hang on Bug" which not everybody got, but those that did :wavey: it could make you tear your hair out. However some noticed survival was harder after installing the Hotfix, that can't be prooved by anyone other than the developers, and they ain't talking.

Hi, Gremlin; can you fly campaigns (everybody said so far, we Germans couldn't)? And if so: what exactly did you do when installing?

To the OFF-Team (if you find this):
- will Phase 3 run on German XP then, or must I change to VISTA (which I'd like to avoid - Bill is already the richest man on earth, as far as I know).
- what would be the system requirements for a full performance of Phase 3 ?
 
Please see the FAQ you need to set your regional settings to change the use of . and , for display of numbers.

P3 uses unicode so that change should not be necessary for most countries.
