Interesting email response from Cerasim

I still haven't decided on which Version of the Black hawk to purchase. It was a toss up between AeroSoft or Cerasim. The Cera is nice and I am impressed with the
youtube video demos however I sent a email question to Cerasim tech support and asked them if their version of the Blackhawk features animated folding tail and rotor
they responded with

"Sorry, we developed the UH 60L BlackHakwk, Navy use HH-60 JayHawk." That was a terse enough answer for me to look elsewhere.

What is confusing, is that there are navy varients (repaints) made for the Cera version. I guess Cerra is model specific and I did not realize the the Navy uses
a different model version of this helo. They both IMHO look about the same on the outside and I would suppose the inside as well.

Looks like Aerosoft Seahawk is Navy Specific and that explains the animated folding tail and rotor. I guess that feature is not used by the Army and therefore
academic for Army use.

Once Cera informed me about the UH 60L Helo, I realized why they didn't make Navy textures.

Looks to me like they gave you a straight to-the-point answer with no unnecessary fluff.

In addition to folding main rotor blades and tail section, Navy versions also have a different rear wheel setup (meaning they have a rear wheel setup) whereas land based versions with a non-folding tail have the skid boom (for lack of correct term).

The fact that there are Navy repaints isn't Cerasim's fault (unless they included them in the release package). Its very typical of this hobby for repaints to be made of the wrong aircraft type and applied to whatever the latest release version is.

By the way, Happy New Year everybody!!!

And show Sim-Outhouse some love!

Appreciate your candor. Wasn't "finger pointing" or "blaming" as you cannot get a sense of voice tone from what I wrote ^. I was just saying that I learned that this particular helo comes in a Navy and Army version and Cera has pointed this out. No more, no less.

The Aerosoft Seahawk is the SH-60B/F with the inboard tailgear. The MH-60S has the traditional Blackhawk tailwheel just like the L. Even though Cera's is the L, it still looks just like the MH-60S which is why people have taken the opportunity to put all the awesome Navy paints on it.

Is the folding tail a must? To me its not, Cera seems to have the better 60. :)

I liked both video demos of the Cera and the Aerosoft. I think Aero has a lock on the True Seahawk.
I guess it goes back to the old saw "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

And one demo by hawgdawg4life for the Cera version. THey are both over $30 (a little much for my retired woodpile) so I want to make it count and get the best bang for the $$$.

In case you've missed the thread on the Cerasim UH-60L, if you play in multiplayer, it isn't for you.

It's a great model, inside and out. Flies really well and sounds fantastic.

However, something is wrong with their effects that are causing it to CTD when more than one person in a server is flying it. This was pointed out within days of it's release, but Cera has since not fixed it and doesn't respond to inquires about it anymore.

I've got both products. In fact I've also got the Virtavia H-60 too. I like them all for different reasons and keep them all installed.

Hope that helps you decide.

Storm,

Appreciate your inputs. I don't do multiplayer so that is one less issue with me. I am waiting for email response from Aerosoft Tech support, have a few questions for them
on their Seahawk. Good Tech support is important to me as well. Thanks.

gray eagle, I early one offered to be a beta tester and notice they are not a US based developer, so English is not their 1st language. All my further correspondence for bugs after release has been to the point, then again I submit all my relevant cpu info from the start. I mentioned a service pack or additional models would be nice, we'll see.

There are actually several difference between the USN MH-60S model and any other Army model. The Alpha/Virt model is also a combo of various models, not really accurate to any one. The great repainters took the artistic liberty to get the requested paints out to the masses.

Aerosoft did a fine job on the folding animations, wished they would've sim'd it breaking, which it does at those inopportune times (i e needing to launch on a SAR).

I think the Virtavia have good model

Many Thanks

To all of your that have provided inputs on your choices, I thank you all.

I have good info from all of you that have flown the different versions. It helps me even more to make up my mind on which one to purchase.
The issues about AeroSoft are duly noted. The CeraSim I really like A LOT but in the meantime, I can use the Free Seahawk from HoverControl
to tide me over till I feel really comfortable on the "Hawk" that I end up with. Some good valid points from you all are really appreciated and I
thank you all.

Yep the L and the S are slightly different however your not entirely correct there's more than just one well known naval variant

@Grey, If you are bent on getting one go cera then aerosoft

The other one has a horrible fde but if you do want that one wait for the sales to get it cheap, I've done several naval S schemes at ozx along with the cera S schemes
