Interesting film on TCM yesterday

Here in SE Georgia we receive Turner Classic Movies (TCM) as part of our internet television package. Yesterday on TCM, they ran a glorious black-and-white classic round-engine film called "Starlift." The plot is pretty standard for these things - airman gets hooked on budding actress/performer who has big-name friends in the show business community; there's a war on (in this case, Korea); everyone gets together for a stateside show for the troops, and next stop is overseas for a whirlwind trip where airman and entertainer meet and cement things. I couldn't watch it for long due to personal business, the biggest star I recognized was Doris Day. I can say this about it, though - if you are a round-engine fan and enjoy the old airlifters this film would be intensely interesting. I didn't even hear a jet engine in the background, and never saw anything with a jet in it or hanging from it, at least while I was watching. Good views of a MATS C-97 cockpit plus FE's panel and start-up procedures, externals of the C-97 taking off and landing, C-47s, C-46s, and C-54s. Internal shots on most birds. The film was shot on and around Travis AFB, CA.

Interesting aside - Sometime during the film they placed an airstairs next to an aircraft that read "Travis Air Force Base - Strategic Air Command." I thought TAFB was always an ATC/MATS/MAC/AMC base.

All airmen were wearing Korea-vintage Army fatigues w/Air Force insignia, or the early version of the AF Shade 1505 uniform, the same one I wore (with modifications) when I was in. It was phased out shortly after I left.

Has anyone else ever seen this film? I'd never heard of it until yesterday. TCM must have been using it as a "filler" during the early afternoon time slot.
