Internet explorer 8-slow to load pages

Hi, ever since I updated IE browser from 7 to 8, it loads pages slow compared to Flock or Firefox or even the old 7. Is anyone else havin this prob with 8? i have a dsl modem. But th problem started after the update from 7 to 8. thx.
 
Had same thing. After much research, removed Spybot Search and Destroy and IE8 burst into life (faster than IE7). the problem is with its "Immunization" feature. IE8 has its own and can't cope with Spybot's as well. If you don't have Spybot installed - no idea.
 
As much as Microsoft products get hacked it's a shame you are forced to have to delete any competitors products...especially when Spybot works so well. We need all the protection we can get nowadays.
 
Me too .....

I too noticed a significant system-wide slowdown after upgrading to IE8 on both my PC's.

CCleaner took longer to run & even Firefox seemed sluggish.

I am primarily a Firefox user so I just upgraded to IE8 when it was released.
I have now downgraded back to IE7 & everything is back to norbal ..... :d

I use Spybot and had no problems at all using it with IE8 installed.
In my opinion: Spybot is much more useful than IE8.

Internet Explorer will always be slower than Firefox ..... why?
Because IE contains M$ code. There are billions of bots on the net just looking to attach to it ...... so it needs extra security features to keep it safe .... which just slows it down ....

Firefox is now the most popular browser (47% market share) With all the addons, features and customized themes (not to mention lightning speed compared to IE8) ..... why use IE for anything except M$ updates?

Hi, thks for the reply's. yeah, i have spybot installed and malwsrebyte. Almost afraid to take them off just to use IE as ZI recently had a pc craqsh from trojans or virus.
 
Malwarebytes is good (update it daily) - it recently saved my machine. You can keep Spybot, but you need to deactivate its immunization feature. As I recall, that is under advanced settings. Personally I have just removed Spybot and rely on Malwarebytes free, AVG free, Zonealarm free firewall, and Windows Defender. I don't even use Adaware any more. IE8 is a key part of the Windows operating system with significance beyond the obvious - so you can't really just abandon it for Firefox - although I am actually at this moment writing this SOH message in Firefox!! :mix-smi:
