Oh I LIKE that idea! Actually, I am in the market for a rifle with a scope for that VERY reason. My gate is just under 300 yards from my house, and I can see it from my front porch.

I need that "Go Away" sign for my door. That is perfect. Chief doesn't look to intimidating there, but then again you were the one taking the photo. Probably makes a lot of noise when unfamiliars approach. Big dog though.

He does bark when he hears or sees something, like airplanes. Airplanes, contrails, etc..., drive him crazy!!! Also big birds flying around get him upset. People? He loves people. Not too keen on smokers though. He doesn't like the smell, I guess.

In this photo, Chief is intent on watching me, mainly because a neighbor's dog was behind me, and Chief wanted to play!

He's a "pussycat". Most Rotties are in my experience. However who in their right mind would want to challenge him guarding his den?

That right there is a steely eyed stare if I ever saw one. You know that she means business the way Doc Hollywood meant business. Hazel may only be an eight pounder, but as the British Navy clearly showed, those eight pounders can do serious damage when properly aimed.

I'm a fairly big dog, and one of those eight pounders almost killed me once..........

dang thing got caught in my throat.
 
when i was working as a plumber..id have the big dogs bark and growl at me..dogs like rotties and shepards,,dobermans..even a few pits ( which im more leery of) but the big ones never bothered me..just talk to them in calm even tones and they wont bite..they bark and may nip..but dont bite.....BUT

its those little ancle biters...dont have a clue as to what they are called ..im a catman anyway...but ive been bitten 7 times while working under sinks from 1980 -95 by those stupid little lapdogs that old ladies think are so sweet and cute...one bit me between the legs if you know what i mean....spent a couple hours in the drs office with him laughin before he would treat me..the mans a menace.....ok i almost went off on a rant about my dr there....
