Hi again Guys, in my last post i did not indroduse myself, i am John from Greece, my ''player'' name will be ''zaxos345'', ''zaxos'' is my nickname in HAF and 345 was my fighter's squadron name. I am apilot in the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) and i used to fly a legendary aircraft, A-7H, the Hellenic version of the A-7E of the U.S. Navy. I live in Chania in Crete a beautifull place to visit, full of sun, sea and girls!!! Married with 3 kinds, one boy and 2 girls.
Well i am not new to the game as i used to play online a few years ago when microsoft's servers were up. I stayed away for a while and now here i am after a long searching of live servers to play online, and i have to admitt that i am very happy to see that there are a lot of people who are still playing this game. I also play Falcon 4 AF on line through Hyperlobby, which unfortunately does not support our game, and i am trying to get familiar to the Il2 1946, which however i find it a bit time consuming to get used to it, something that i dont have really, but i try.
Anyway this is my favourite game and i am really happy to be with you.
Wish you good hunding and shooting, regards John

Greetings John. You are one lucky man to live in Chania. I holidayed in Crete a few years back and our trip to Chania was memorable. Take your time to find out whats new. A lot has improved in the last couple of years

Hi Thanks that is what i want to know, what has improved in the game, any links etc

Hi John,

A lot of things happened lately:
1. read the sitcky-thread on top of the page about ETO: new planes and effects for the CFS3. Because a lot of people downloaded it, it has become the referencepoint for many of us
2. Were you still with us when MAW (mediteranian) and PTO (Pacific) were released?
3. Idem: about Korean Skies and OFF (WWI). OFF has left SOH and gone to another site
4. There are a lot of new planes, skins and missions here at SOH: check-out the downloadsection
5. AvHistory still has their archive full of beautiful planes, but stopped development as they moved over to another platform (Strikefighters if I remeber it right)
6. Groundcrew-site has stopped, but Regs hanger has taken over their legacy
7. Some famous names have left; new famous names have arrived
8. A number of people are creating new planes, facilities and missions for the "Attack in the West Continued"
9. What remains the same is the comradeship and the willingness to help eachother.

I hope this update - in which I undoubtedly missed very important things (I apologise for everything I've missed) gives some insight in the recent developments.

:kilroy:Hello and welcome, Zaxos345. Yes, a lot of things have changed greatly since you departed.

You should know, after perusing this Forum on this site for a few days that are three kinds of active CFS3 players out there:

1. The pure onliners. The ones that only play multi-player online.

2. The offliners, which are those that only prefer single-play mode. They are into missions and campaigns.

3. The hybrids, like myself, who enjoy both.

The onliners do very little modding to their installs. When joining a game online, you have to have the same aicraft that the host has, or you'll get a mismatch. However, a joiner can actually have extra planes in ihs install that the host doesn't have.

Also, your OS may be a factor to be considered. CFS3 doesn't work online through Vista without a tiny bit of modding to CFS3.

Please read this sticky thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=9007 Follow Deadmeat1971's instructions to the letter if you are using Vista.

The stand-alone add-on games are excellent, however MAW, Korean Skies, and PTO Solomons are temporarily unavailable due to the fact that their sites are currently down. I understand that efforts are being made to correct this. You also have the option of asking areound here to see if someone could send one, some, or all of them to you by snail-mail on one or more DVD's.

You can attain the CFS3 ETO Expansion through the link in Post #1 in this sticky thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=862 Just copy and paste the link into your web browser and have a look.

The add-on library here at SOH has a lot of stuff available.

Here are a couple of sites for more add-ons:

http://avhistory.org/communityserver/default.aspx

http://www.regshanger.com/

There are others out there.

Good luck and have fun.:d

Hi Z!!

As many gurus have already spoken, there is not much left to say.
I'd really recommend you try MAW. If the MAW site it is still down, I'm sure one of our colleagues living near you can burn you a dvd copy. With MAW you'll be able to take off form your own island to fight in Greek skies! What a chance!

Cheers and welcome to the forum
