Iris C-27J inbound immenently....

no cam RAAF 27?

i only say this as a lot of images on the defence network show it in a camo scheme like the bou

No Matt, no cammo scheme at the moment. There may be one in an upcoming texturepack but that will have to wait and see.

It would be interesting too see the pics you mentioned of a C27 in Aussie cammo. Especially as it's not in Aussie service or as far as I know the demonstrator wasn't painted in cammo for display to the raaf brass a few years back.

Have not flown an inch yet, since my Saitek panels do not cooperate with the aircraft (yet). A quick start will not work either. This could be my system since i have problems with starting all turbo-props at the moment..... Still searching for a proper default plane loader.

Is there a quick start option in this bird?

If not, i'm off to read some 51 pages of manual.

Warrant, don't panic.. ;)

On aircraft load follow the instructions below;

1. Right Click the 'Gust Lock' lever on the center console (located just in front of the throttle levers.

2. From the Aircraft Crew and Maintainance manager board that appears, click 'Autostart' then Left Click the gust lock to hide the clipboard. (You can also add the virtual copilot for audible prompts too, add or remove various components etc.)

3. From the overhead panel, move the Left starter to the START position, you should get a good start and confirmation of such if the copilot is added.

4. Once engine 1 is started, repeat for engine 2... all done..all started and away you go.

I had the good fortune of being able to walk inside one of the new Spartans flown by the 179th Air Lift Wing at KMFD not too long ago. Less than 100 flight hours on the plane (none of the 4 Spartans flown by the 179th has logged over the 100 hr mark). It still had that lovely "new plane" smell. Looking at the pics of the IRIS Spartan's VC, I can honestly say it is dead on with what I saw in the real plane....and I even compared the screenshots to the pics I took of the VC of the real Spartan....layout is a ringer.

OBIO

Thanks OBIO, that means a lot.. Nick Dackard did a 'dirtying up' of the cockpit and exterior for us because we like a more 'used' looking aircraft.. I think he did a bang on job too.. :)

Hi Smudge,

No panic here (besides a cat trying to attack my left foot).
Finally found a decent turboprop default flight i saved a million years ago, and it works (in other words, it was my system).
Finally got the bird to puff and spin the blades.

Thanks for the quick-start you just gave :salute:. Gonna use that when turning grey on all those flights i'm gonna make with this beauty, and reach a point when i don't want to go through all the knob-pushing no more for a short quick hop.
As usual, you people seem to have delivered another stunning piece of work! :medals:

Best regards, Warrant

David I'm getting a red indicator saying DTC not loaded and cant find it in my manual?

DTC not loaded means there's no FSX Flightplan in system memory. If you create or load an FSX flightplan, then the Flightplan information is displayed on the lower left of the EHSI units.

Ah ok thank you. So far my Arctic testing shows a excellent representation and job well done to the Iris Team:salute: and well worth the wait and money.

Nice repaint but I think you will have to correct the side fuselage arrows.
The Dept Of Defense / Royal Canadian Air Force standard side fuselage arrow :

Is outlined with a narrow black line
and
Has a center white line a little bit smaller in width than the red lines !

Great plane, was having fun with it last night, it sure will stop on a dime lol. Hey Pam or Dave, what would be the recommended econ and max cruise/altitude settings for this bird? I wonder if the Taifun with its wings folded wit fit in there? Lol anyone know the dimensions of the cargo bay?

Cheers

Well, not to be argumentative, but the livery on the buffalo and the livery on the C-27 are quite different.. Please look more closely at the C-27 link you supplied and you will see that the lightning flash has a white center which is twice as wide as the red outlines.. That being the case, I none the less have never claimed to be a painter. I'm a number cruncher specializing in flight models. I made that livery at the time that the c-27 teaser was released as a result of requests coming in for it. I hear that there may be another person doing a "proper" CSAR livery for it as we speak, which will inevitably replace mine. This livery also was uploaded only because of a request for me to do so by one of our members..
I still do not claim to be a painter..

hoo boyyy.. thats digging back into history a bit.. I'm afraid the best answer i could give would be little more than speculation or an educated guess. However, with a service ceiling of thirty thousand feet, I can speculate that its cruise altitude is between nineteen and twenty five thousand feet. I can also however, see that for most of its real world usage, it never sees that altitude. being what it is ( a combat transport ) it is unlikely that it will fly missions of greater than a couple hundred miles very often, and that would preclude it ever getting over 20000 feet. The Canadian SAR version supports this as well, as it can do a low level search for the entirety of its some 1000 mile range ( 2300 for the Canadian version carrying a 6000kg payload ). In the end, i think its not so much a matter of altitude, as it is the way you set throttle and pitch.

Painter or not, i like it!

Like the bird as well. She does fly smooth, and is eyecandy to watch. The only minor is the lack of interaction with my Saitek panel & instruments (external hardware).
For example;
- Not all information is displayed at my MFD's (fuel quantity for one).
- Switches (master, avionics master etc) do not work.
- AP cannot be activated from AP panel (however altitude, VS dial does function).

But then again, this bird is intended to be flown from the DVC, and that works just fine (and pretty simple/self explanatory if i might add).

So far; Job well done, IRIS :salute:

Hope to see a lot of different liveries for this one, both civil and military. When i have my rig running at 100% again, i might even throw a few brush strokes here and there.
