IRIS PC-21

I just bought the IRIS PC-21 on sale for $18. I could not resist.

I have 2 questions:

1 is the prop really that asymmetrical to the center line of the plane?

2 does it have reverse thrust? I know I read the manual for this one.

It seems to be well done. I need to read the manual for engine shutdown and start up. I want to drop thos external tanks.

yup... it really is offset... about 3.5 degrees if i recall, this is to counteract the prop torque...

Thanks. I thought i had bent it already. :).

It is seriously a lot of fun. The condensation over the wings is a nice touch.

Plenty of systems stuff to learn. The flap and gear down speeds seem low.

But with pc-21 and ants trojan I am in military trainer heaven.

The PC-21 has the engine offset 3.5 degrees to the right in order to counter the effects of the enormous torque of the engine so you'll see it as a "twisted nose" aircraft.
The PC-21 (real and virtual) doesn't have reverse thrust but use the air brake on landing, also please don't confuse the air brake (single part bottom of the aircraft) with the aileron spoilers (on the upper wings right and left side which deploy only at high roll inputs).
The PC-21 doesn't have "drop fuel tanks", the auxiliary fuel tanks are installed and detached on the ground by personnel, these are mostly for ferrying the aircraft, and this is the procedure to retrieve the auxiliary fuel tanks that go on the wings (from the Iris website):
[h=1][Q] How do I remove the fuel tanks?[/h]The IRIS - Pro Training Series - Pilatus PC-21 [FSX] has optional fuel tanks.

To remove the fuel tanks

  1. Make sure your engine is off, you're on the ground and stationary.
  2. Make sure your Left and Right Aux Fuel Tanks are empty on the FSX Fuel and Payload Manager.
  3. Power up the CDU.
  4. Click 'SYSTEM PAGE'
  5. Click 'COMPONENTS'
  6. Click 'FUEL TANKS' until the fuel tank indication reads 'NOT FITTED'.

Thanks!

Jose Valdez.

Hi José ! Still in love with your 3d for that amazing plane !

By the way, for the fuel tank, the simpliest way is not to load them !

Before the flight, after choosing the PC-21, go to fuel and payload and set the two auxliary tanks to zero. That's it, they will not appear...

Thanks for the fuel tank info guys. Not loading them at all seems the way to go.

This has become my "personal" touring airplane. I modified one of the skins into a civilian model and paint.

I found the manuals to have major gaps. It could be my old analog, steam gauge brain, but I had hell figuring out how to get the ILS to work. Also, changing things after a flight plan has been loaded seems impossible, for me.

Setting the frequencies was tricky because you have to enter both decimals even if it is just 109.1 you still have to enter the last zero

Can anyone explain the top ufcp ic knob on the right and how it works? or the pages in the manuals. It sounds like real chatter. Thx

Ol' Laser Brain here just figured out that FS PilotShop and Flightsim Shop are not one in the same. Happily downloading this filly as a write!

I only found it because I received an email from flightsimstore.com that iris stuff was 50% off.

I checked the site just to see if it included the pc-21. I really couldn't believe that it did.
