IRIS Pro Series F-16D on Finals.. ;)

Same price as the other Pro Series birds.. $49.99 AUD which according to XE.com is.....$41 USD at the moment...so based on that, probably between $40-45 is a good thing...

Why didn't your guys add a little "higher-res" enhancement to the VC? It looks a little more like your 2002/2004 stuff then your Pro Series Tomcat etc. Its not bad but, just has a little of that "cartoonish" look; Sorry, don't mean to offend you but for that price I'd want a better VC ... Its good and I'm buying it anyway. :applause:

At some later day, could you enhancing the VC look a little?

The resolution is fine. It isn't the resolution that makes it look "cartoonish". It is a bit more colorful looking than the Aerosoft offering. I think that is the real cause of it giving that appearance. I still stand by my comment that the IRIS F16 looks good where it counts.

Assuming a paint kit is released and I can whip up a Wisconsin ANG variant, I'll probably be using this one over the Aerosoft one.

Your entitled to your "opinion" but, I don't happen to agree with you...that doesn't mean that you have to get defensive about anything I've stated; as it wasn't directed to you directly or your post necessarily. I happen to be working on COLOR MFD's for the Aerosoft one but, that isn't what I find "Cartoonish" either.

Its the textures on the VC and the models HOTAS and several elements on the face of the gauges/panels when compared to David's work on the Pro Series Tomcat, I find it lacking. I'm NOT comparing Aerosoft's one with this, I'm comparing IRIS' previous work with their Pro Series and this recent model; it could use a little more "Texture enhancements" for the VC. That's my opinion and I'm pretty sure that others here share it. As to what else it does, I'll be happy to find that out for myself, when I buy it. ;)

I like the textures James, they're in fact dirtier than they were originally. Currently there's no plans to change them. Time will tell on what happens down the road.

I hope that I wasn't a "downer" on your product, with the upcoming release ... it really is a nice and well desired model. So, you have nothing to worry about with regards to sales, etc. There are several hundred users that wanted Aerosoft to make this (twin-seater) D model and they didn't. So, I can almost guarantee their patronage, including mine. :wavey:
And at some later date, if you are inclined, we can talk about updates again some more.

EDIT: I just went to the IRIS site and didn't see it listed on the product(s) pages or the store; is it still planned for an Aug 22nd '09 release?

Why would I get defensive... you are entitled to your opinion as I am. You aren't being rude or degrading. I guess I just find the colors a little "cartoonish" but think the resolution is great. I don't necessarily see "cartoonish" in this sense as bad either, just different.

Please make sure to post a link to your color MFD's for the Aerosoft one when you are done with them. I'm certainly interested in trying them out! :wavey:

Well, long story short: At my first paragliding competition everyone had to choose a three digit competition number and no one wanted the "666", and for some reason I liked it. Since then, I had many flight-hours with that number on my wing and it has become my lucky number. Despite it's original genesis...
 
That's interesting, Michael. 666 is also a lucky number in China: I've read that you see it everywhere.

PS: I hope you don't mind a update request, from your soon-to-be customer; would you kindly update the VC Textures RES' to 2048x2048 or better (4096x4096)? I can live with these for now... however, low res VC turn me off over time. I use (x3) 42" LCD monitors at a res of 3840x1024 so every little low-res texture looks like a "cartoonish" texture, showing up in all its glory. I don't want to end up using your aircraft as just AI. Thanks for listening! :kilroy:
