IRIS Tornado GR4

Blackbird686

SOH-CM-2025
Hey All --

How the bloody heck does one misplace a Tornado GR4?? I seemed to have misplaced mine, I had it at one time, but somehow lost the download in a re-org that I did a few months back. If anyone knows where I can get this plane (again) please let me know. I found the F3 on the IRIS Site, and I've looked in all the usual places on the web.

And NO, (Nigel and Matt) I did NOT misplace my flag... seems it has mysteriously disappeared from the dispersal. :pop4:

BB686:US-flag: -- oh! there it is...LOL!!

Thanks mates. Turns out, I had an older version of the F3. The newer versions in the superpack are still one of the best, despite the model's "length of service".:ernaehrung004:

"The Gaffer"...lol. Sounds like Edward James Olmos' character in the film "Blade Runner". The only other Tornado F.3 I have for FS9 is the Alphasim model. It's a beauty of a model, a bit more technical, with a few more enhancements. The IRIS Tornados are the kind of plane that I just like to "hop into and go". They are beautifully modeled, albeit relatively simple in nature, easy to manage in flight, and are very frame rate friendly. The Superpack contains an AI model for each paint too... a nice addition.

Take a look over at UKMIL if you really want to know about the Tornado - but you may learn more than you're comfortable with.
Don't mention the words "Tornado" and "Alphasim" in the same sentence.

This is the UKMIL GR4A offering:

Yeah... I tried a few years back to register to that site, unsuccessfully. :frown-new: I do however have many of their repaints that have been posted to the usual places, including some for the IRIS F.3 and GR.4.

I thought UKMIL bailed on FS 2004.

They may have... The IRIS/DSB Tornados are older models, from about 2005 or so. The repaints that I found from UKMIL are schemes that some of their members did for the FS9 IRIS models, including the Tornado. Despite the "length of service" (for lack of a better word for age), the UKMIL paints, as well as brushwork from other artists, on the IRIS Tornados have stood the test of time and are superb works, even by today's standards.

I also found some excellent paints for the Alphasim Tonka done by UKMIL members on Flightsim.com.

I tried again to create a login and password on the UKMIL website... to no success. They just never respond with an activation link email. No worries tho... it's all good.
