Is anyone making a Boeing 314 Clipper FsX?

As the title suggests does anyone know of an FsX 314 in the making? I'm sure it would be a good seller for a payware vendor (see my avatar).

We've discussed it but that's as far as we have gone. It's behind the Boeing 247 and the Grumman Widgeon
 
Rather than another of something I'd love a 314; imagine one with Accusim. At one time one of the higher end freelance developers mentioned it as a future project; Piglet????

I kept FS9 installed on my old FS computer primarily because of the Pilot's 314. It's dialed back to the 30's and is mostly used for Pan Am period aircraft and routes.

I believe Jens (JBK) was considering making a 314 but he seems to have left plane making behind for now...

I'm sorry what do you mean another of something? Are you implying that if GAS did it it would not be properly done? If so, sir, we take offense

Yeah, the last I heard he was heavily involved in Wakefield class rubber powered model airplanes.

The issue is that as I run FsX in Dx10 an Fs9 model would not work well in Dx10. Maybe when we finally get Steve Parsons Dx10 fixer program, an Fs9 model might not look so bad? If that were the case I would try an install of the Pilots B314 that I still have on disk somewhere.

When I say "another of something" I'm referring to the redundancy (another) we see in some aircraft, for instance Mustangs and Spitfires and even the Cub. Yes, each and every rendition brings something new but it's something slightly new to the same thing.
 
I'm with you Roger...I would love to see a very thoroughly done 314. I read Night Over Water by Ken Follett and that really got the juices flowing. I would like to see a full tour even a cabin or cabins with lower deck diner, a crewman seat in the engines compartments, a full engineer and navigator compartment, etc...I know I'm dreaming!

Or EE Canberras, for god's sake....and yet STILL no proper FSX-native B-57B, C, E to be seen....

More likely that in time, payware will drift away and we'll be left with the freeware developers we started with...



As for the clipper... Mikes is... showing its age now, its a simple low poly model, no vc... questionable flight model, but hes fairly clear on that note... he made it for himself and shared it, and credit to him for that.

I'd love a good clipper :( Really one of the big classics we're missing... A2A Captain of the ship Boeing B314? :D Oh yes please.

Ahhh, I understand.

At a flea market recently I picked up a collection of Airpower magazines from 1977, and at that time they did a series of articles on the Boeing 314, with tons of photos showing Assembly and Testing, including several tail configurations (single and twin tails ala B-24/25) until deciding on the tri tail config.

BTW... have you ever read The Long Way Home, by Ed Dover? An awesome read about Robert Ford's around the World trip in NC18602.

At last year's fly-in at our local grass airstrip, I saw this old gentleman sitting under this small tent with pictures of flying boats. He was sitting there basically by himself with no one looking at his stuff. I had to know, so I stopped and introduced myself and started talking to him.

His name is Bill Nash and retired not far south of here. He started flying clippers for PanAm back in 1942. By the time he finally retired he was flying 727's. While driving away, after looking at the aircraft that had arrived, I couldn't help thinking about all the folks walking past living history and not even taking the time to talk to him.

BTW, Doing a search on "Bill Nash, Flying Boats, Clipper Ships" etc., will turn up some cool info on him and pictures in his youthful days as a pilot.
