Is there a challenging airstrip...

The FSX version is terrific Daube, danke, merci.... Lovely strip, animation everywhere. Flew from Habère-Poche to la Cote in what little time I had. Figured the Maule would be a good option since I didn't have a Storch. :d

Will download and try the FS9 version by comparison after supper.

yes, I use this airfield a lot too. My advise: Set the same kind of weather, maybe a bit less visibility but it's OK, and try a take off at sunset ! :wavey:
The sun rflections over the lake upon takeoff are simply amazing.

I was using Active Sky 6.5 Daube. With the FSUIP 4.0 module in FSX, it will read WEX metars from AS, but the clouds are all default FSX. The still look nice. AS shuld be handling the visiblilty, but I may check that in Advanced Weather settings. It does so in FS9,. not sure about FSX.

Challenging airfield for a Storch....any Helipad in the country of your coice :icon_lol::icon_lol:
For an airplane that can at 25kts or there abouts...there really isn't much of a challenge anywhere.

I have seen a real one hovering in a relatively mild wind

Try James Belk's Hazardous Airstrips in the northern Cascades of Washington State, 15 great airstrips in 4 packs. Requires Holger Sandmann's US NW mesh. All available at Avsim.

Yes, I have. Selecting Mannlichen results in a not reponding of FS9. I will look into it.

Hmm this is strange.... What happens if you start from Interlaken, with the lake behind you, and you follow the valley on the left ? The airstrip is next to the end of the valley, you will find it easilly if you fly right above the mountain tops.

I'll try that one.

Edit: No luck! It crashes too. Never comes past the loading screen. Is something else a 'must have installed' for this addon to work?

No, nothing to install first.
If you read the readme in the Mannlichen archive (you can use google or altavista to translate the text, it should work), there are some files to remove from the original scenery, prior to add the ones for Mannlichen.

You know what ? I will try to install the FS9 scenery in my FSX just for a check. Maybe I can give you some precise instruction tomorrow.

Ok I have tried the altisurface pack in my FSX.
It works, excepted for some textures, but it does not really fit with my local Alps Mesh.

The issue that Mann19.zip is supposed to correct is that the airstrip appears twice in the original pack, there is the same group of buidings right next to the normal ones. Your are supposed to remove three BGL files from the original pack, and include the BGL ones that are in the Mann19.zip package, as well as two textures. Then the airstrip appears correctly.

I don't know the origin of your crash, and since I do not have FS9 I cannot help, sorry :/

Hi Daube,

I sorted it out. This scenery is rejected by FS9 when it's on another drive. Working with a separate scenery folder never caused probs before, but at last I got it working now. There are no afcads in this scenery? It looks great.

Cees

I don't know for the afcads, I'm not very familiar with scenery design to be honnest.
I'm glad you can finally test it. Departing from Interlaken and climbing to that little airstrip is quite challenging !

By the way, it seems to me that the airstrip I metionned before by mistake, Habere-Poche, has a FS9 version, included in this pack. I don't know how it looks like, though. However, this strip is quite nicely placed, especially during evenings takeoffs.
