Is there a limit too the number of aircraft in FSX?

I have just been looking to select the Skysim Hawk to fly in FSX through the aircraft selection menu only to find it missing. When I looked in the FSX-simobjects-airplanes folder both the front and back seat folders are present.
I have recently been adding all the wonderful new paints for the A2A P47 and I wondered if by doing so I had passed some kind of limit to the number of aircraft permissible in the sim. Can anyone make any suggestions?

Ian,

I don't know the answer but I do know that it takes a long time for the aircraft selection screen to come up. I have a lot of aircraft loaded. I really don't see the need for developers to include 50-something variations on the same aircraft in the packages we buy - 90 percent of which I will never fly. Of course, my 90% won't be the same as someone else's 90%. I would much rather they do something like what A2A has done with the Jug - a few variations then turn the repainters loose to do their best work.

There is no limit. I probably have over a thousand thumbnails on my aircraft select screen. I venture to guess you're not there, because noone is as dumb as me. I've been spending about 100 per month on payware for years.

Anyway; The aircraft has probably been installed improperly, or you've got enough aircraft to where it's hard to find. Try looking it up by manufacturer. I've had aircraft 'not appear' before only to find I looked over them several times. Narrowing your search results can help. Also, see if they haven't used 'skysim' as the manufacturer as some devs do.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. Tigisfat the aircraft was installed correctly, I’ve flown it many tines before! And I always select aircraft via the manufacturer list; I find that is normally the best way to find them. This is a complete mystery to me.

You haven't done something like accidentally untick the "Show all variations" checkbox by any chance?

Just trying to cover all the bases!

No Myles. I have now re-installed the Hawk (no small feet given the activation procedure) and everything seems to be ok, although I did uninstall some other aircraft first.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I keep my addon aircraft in multiple folders and have different
FSX configurations based on where and what I want to fly.

I have a "Military Aircraft" folder that only gets looked
at when I run 'FSX_Military.exe". Propliners go in their
own folder and are seen when I execute "FSX_Propliners.exe".
By renaming the FSX.EXE file, the newly named versions will
create their own fsx.CFG file where you can then set specific
paths to various 'SimObject' folders.

This technique cuts my load times and minimizes the number
of aircraft shown in the preview screen, thus I never use
the menu filter options on that screen.

Wanna bet? :) On my old PC I had 2000+ thumbnails!!! Took ages to find anything, and to load. I am trying to be more discerning on my new instal but am rapidly creeping back into my old ways of downloading anything new! And all those WoP3 repaints dont help :jump:

Hi
I checked I have 1144 planes in FSX

So limit may be there but is high

Not showing may have other reasons

Roland

i.e
Wrong airfile
Missing or misspelled texture,panel,sound folder
Model file corrupted
Numbering of planes in aircraft cfg not consistant

FS9 will show all of this FSX eill ignore
