Is there a Nieuport 28 out there somewhere?

Howdy,

This seems like such a nice WWI plane and Eddie R. got a couple kills in it. I thought it would be easer to find. There is a CFS on that is pretty nice. Any ideas?

Nieuport 28 Converted

I found a converted FS2002 Nieuport some time ago - search for:

nie28C1cfs2.zip
Fs2002 nieuport nie 28C.1 by Erik Beertema

Can't recall where it came from, but I'll bet it was a Simviation find......

Okay - So it needs the touch of a decent painter, and a tweak to the as-delivered Sopwith AIR and DP files.

Moon asked for an ALTERNATIVE CFS2-compatible Nieuport - he didn't ask for a turn-key excellent plane !

Go ahead, Butters - Dive in, get your hands dirty, and make us a "New and Improved" 28C out of this one !

If you need any help, just ask - No end to the folks here who will lend a hand :wavey:

Easy Tiger......

I have Made a few bad planes. I know how long it takes. I hope CFS2 is still around when I retire in 10 years.

No Worries

I hit my "Can't Sleep / Too Many Meds In The System" quota last night, and stayed up past 3 AM working over the DP and AIR files for this plane.... Even fixed the crappy Prop image with one of Kelti's masterpieces...

It flies great, has a Lewis Gun
now that's corrected to 800 feet, and will manoever with the best of 'em.

If you want a copy, PM me with your email and I'll send it along - it's an unapproved mod so I can't upload it for general consumption, but I can send it to you for "Evaluation Purposes" if you need it.....

Crown Royal ???

...Is there a Prefered CFS2 "Med"?

I need one that will make me a better plane "TWEEKER".....

I hear that a good stiff drink has been known to grease the wheels of ingenuity around the Basement... :guinness:

In my case it's chemo drugs that keep me awake.

I don't recommend them...

Hey SC7500, sorry if I stepped on a toe, I was just making an observation. As Moonbutter says we've gotten spoiled over the years with ever higher quality models, paint jobs etc. - and as this was an early model contribution, it wasn't developed to current standards. Sounds like you have addressed a number of the issues which is cool.

I understand what you are saying about authorization, but just as a thought - you could post your updates separately as their own package, with a link to the aircraft download in your read me file. People could download the original plane and then add your updates themselves. :wavey:

No Worries

Never fear, Cap'n - I try not to let the meds kill my indomitable spirit... LOL !

I'm gonna have Butters test-fly the version I sent him earlier this evening, and get some feedback; What flies fine for ME doesn't always make every pilot happy... And a 'General Population Release' of the flight characteristics mods could be counter-productive to the Community if premature...

BTW - ANYONE who would like to test-fly this plane as modded is more than welcome to request the ZIP file [3.75Mb], and make suggestions. Like I mentioned to MoonButter, it flies great, but doesn't stop very quickly when landing, unless you drop your approach speed to near-stall MPH.... It just LOVES to roll and roll.... And then there's that challenge with the non-mirrored textures....

So - All who are interested, send me a PM and include your private email - I'll fire a Nieuport ZIP off ASAP.

Sc & Moonbutter

Had a sticky-beak at my references for this French lady (nie28C1cfs2), due to the texture issues with the model, it would be possible to do a quick repaint for aircraft numbers 0, 1, 8, and a plain Jane (no number). However it would not be an accurate scheme as only one side of the fuselage exists and also only one wing, actual paint scheme has different patterns on the top upper and lower upper wings. Could be made to look nice.

For a really accurate scheme the FB_Npt28C1 & FB_N28C1_Updt_CFS2 would need to be used.

Alternative schemes by the opposition:-

Will do a quickie after I finish the He-46 (which includes SCW, early German and Ost Front nuisance bombers. Could do Axis as well but the old girl really needs a NACA cowling for them, almost finished the line work)

There is another Nieuport 28 in Simviation, made by Felipe Belalcazar, which is CFS2 native as it seems.

I haven't tested it, but it could be another option.

Edit: sorry, I just realised that it has already been mentioned.

I deemed this bird to be perfectly usable & have done a 27th Sq. AEF skin for it to be uploaded shortly, after tweaking.
