Is This a Real Plane?

That Panam Jet Clipper - and probably that exact photo of it - started my infatuation with aircraft all those years ago.
It's beautiful...

Actually it isn't a photo......

That was a screennie I made of the HJG Boeing 707-120 in the sim......

I had my resolution set to 1280 x 960 running through a Nvidia 9500 GT (512 mb DDR2 VRAM). I also have the Environment setting set to max along with aircraft settings to max.

The HJG group did a hell of a job on that bird.....and now that i have a machine i can nuke setting on.....this sim has really came to life for me.............

I have to give my thumbs up to Ace Studio for the sim and to all our wonderful designers out there....the best thing about that 707 is.............SHE IS FREEWARE!!!!!

You can find her and many other great gems at:

Now the DC-7C was also a screen-shot taken under the same settings. You can find her and many other great propliners at the California Classic Propliners site:

It's a great screen, and a beautiful model.
Here's the photo, although the one in my mind's eye was going the other way.

Markus I'd gladly fly a "ficticious" Condor in those colors....it still is an amazing airplane. Too bad none of them survived WW2.

As for the Retro-Airbus.....that's reason enough to download that AI package. I wished my favorite airline would paint a few more of their birds in this great looking scheme. So much more classy than the current "Bauhaus" inspired one. But of course also much more expensive to paint.

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

a few actually did and at least one airline version was used by a british airline (BEA, I think) for a short while after WW2. It was damaged on the ground though, and scrapped due to lack of spares.

The Berlin technical museum has one that was revered from the bottom of a norwegian fjord. However, it broke apart during the salvage operation and is currently being restored in Bremen, probably in green base paint colors. It will take another few years before it can be on display.

Best regards,
Volker

Not sure if this a Retro?

Seen at KBOS with a massive queue patiently waiting behind...
