Islander is on short final...

Hmmm, $40 bucks. . .another one I'll pass on.:salute:

Yes, it's getting kind of silly when it represents a single internal variation in some kind of ersatz `halfway house` cockpit, yet supposedly two different external variants.

For that money, I'd expect not only the separate versions modelled separately, with panel variation, but also a BN-2T turbine version with it's own panel. It's at least $10 over my budget for an airplane of this quality, type and featureset.

But who knows, maybe it will come with a whole raft of goodies to make up for the mediocrity. If it matches Acc-Sim for detailed cause and effect features then it might be back on my list.

At that money I will definitely wait for the early adopters to get their teeth into it first. Even with the Flight 1 moneyback gaurantee that's a fair dollop of wedge to drop for a light twin with all the sophistication of a hammer and nail!

I just want them to finish this one and hopefully carry their talents over to the C-17 and finish their 3D cockpit and hopefully an FMC. I never quite understand why models are planned and started by a single company, not just talking AS, then never finished. It makes sense when they are started for FS9 and later attempting to port over to FSX, but starting in one format and not releasing it just is irratating. Also, I understand starting and not finishing when monies or talent dry up. Anyway, I too hope it's release is imminent and they re-focus their energies on their partially completed C-17.

Just saw this post over at the FlyTampa website :

Thanks, but better to go to the organ grinder than the monkey for a tune:-

...expecting new shots in that forum imminently. Hopefully fully representative of a release product.

Personally, I find it distasteful that they should release beta images this late on. If the end product isn't ready, why is it being released? If it is ready, SURELY somebody with a hint of marketing capability has already commissioned the professional screenshots and the very necessary video..?

At this money, I'd be expecting nothing less. This has all the hallmarks of a grade one lash-up.

This is kind of an odd release for me as it was the final Alphasim project I tested. It would seem the new team did a pretty good job finishing her up.

I think I'll have to try her out. :wiggle:

Thanks for the links Cag40Navy, FlameOut & Naki.

I've been watching the development screenshots for a while (and yes, I know it's been a while) and seeing as I enjoyed the Aerosoft Twin Otter and similar planes, I believe the Islander would be a great addition to my collection. So yes, I'm more than a little excited by the news.

Why all the doom and gloom people? Another plane is being released! It may not be to everybody's taste, expectations, or budget range but hey...

...another plane is being released!

Give it a chance to get off the ground first eh?

In two minds about buying? Then listen to what people who buy it first say, see what issues there are and how the developer responds to them. If it's a good plane then it will sell, word of mouth will see to that.

C'mon, the long awaited Islander is being released....anyone joining me in a conga? :jump:

Sure will mate, as you said might not be everyone's cuppa but I sure will be more than happy to pay $40 for something like this.. I love the more peculiar type machines and this for me qualifies as one ( personal thing ;) )
