Sorry not sure where to post this. I have been getting this for at least the last month 100% of the times i try to visit the site with Firefox It does sometimes happen in edge as well. Havent tried it Chrome. Any idea what I can do to try and fix this.

I use Firefox 100% of the time with no issues. Who is your internet provider? Some ISP's have been known to block us since we had to change from a .com site to a .org site. They see us as a new site and therefore apply the tightest security even though we are perfectly safe.

I too use Firefox most of the time with no issues – and this is on Windows 7 Pro. Perhaps you could try two solutions.

What happens if you click on that “reload” button ? And / or click on the circular arrow (top left corner of the window) to refresh the page.

Make sure that you are using the latest version of Firefox too . . .

Spectrum is blocking SOH if you are using their router and the advanced filtering feature. You have to go into their router and turn off the feature to get us unblocked.

Note we sent them a report that it was a false positive and they replied that they would not unblock us as they see something they don't like.

Thanks for the info, Dave.

We have Spectrum and I've had this exact problem for several weeks now.

Sounds like Spectrum. I asked for us to be unblocked and this is what they sent me.

Also try redoing your link to the site! I have had that issue with those site and also flightsim.com. Just Google this site and click on it!

Potentially harmful content here? Where and what?
There is a theory that they don't like the fact that we have a downloads library and could be hosting either pirated software or virus infected files. We have assured them that we have permission to host the files from the authors and that in most cases the authors themselves placed their own files in our library but it makes no difference to them. They see us as a 'potentially harmful' domain and have blocked us permanently. They are not prepared to listen to reason and are acting like petulant two year olds (there's a lot of that about these days unfortunately! )

The best way to deal with them is to change ISPs, if acting like fools hurts their profits they may change their ways but it would need to have a lot more people than those here at SOH to switch providers before they even noticed. The only realistic way is to disable their stupid 'nanny mode' in their specific router software and set your own rules for sites.

This article from their own website tells you how to disable their intrusive 'nanny mode':

There is even a link on that page that takes you to a reporting page where you can submit a form requesting that they change their status. Several of the Staff here did that when the issue first arose but they still have us blocked. If anyone fancies creating extra work for Spectrum you could submit a complaint request (or two) in the hope that if they get enough complaints they will do something about it! :devilish:

I dumped the router Spectrum issued and replaced it with a Netgear router since the Specturm router forced me to use one of their technicians to simply open a port for online gaming, the router password was visible to their techs, and it just plain stank as a router for going online.

Spectrum WiFi router problem @ the Mudspike forums
I have run across the most (redacted) situation with my Spectrum WiFi router. So far I have not been able to access it through the default Gateway. Every time I try to access the router it throws up a page requiring me to download their My Spectrum App and use my phone to access the Router. According to posts I have found that is not going to let me do much either, forget about port forwarding or any other higher admin features even if I download the My Spectrum app. The only thing I have been able to do is change the WI-FI name and PW when I logged into my online account but there was no way to alter anything else.

Anyone here have Spectrum Internet service? How do you access the Gateway router WITHOUT downloading their My Spectrum App?

Modem: Ubee
Model: EU2251

Router (WiFi): Askey
Model SAC2V1K

What are my alternatives, besides just sending everything back and telling them to stuff it?

Silly policy, if you ask me. Does Spectrum block all p0rn sites too? I would expect those sites would be far more potentially harmful.

I usually use Google Chrome but I fired up Firefox to check access to SOH and got here with no problem. Pretty basic suggestion but you might try dumping your Firefox cache and trying again. Some good router info here from DD26 and others. Some routers and ISP's often get overly protective and then leave it up to you to figure out how to resolve the issues.

I just recently ran into the same issue when trying to access Sim-Outhouse from my home wifi (same error message), no matter the web browser. It ended up being that I needed to disable the newly-added "advanced security" feature in my Comcast/Xfinity router, which provided an immediate resolution.

I have not leased a cable router/AP in decades. Even though technology changes and that forces one to buy a new one, it has been far cheaper for me to buy rather than rent. I wish I could buy TV cable converter boxes, but I guess that is a profit center for Comcast.

@stansdds I just bought my new TV in December and was told by Xfinity that I didn't need the X1 cable box anymore since it's a "Smart" TV and will use wifi and it keeps
your same service as the cable box. I kept my X1 box because I know that the wifi is less reliable and goes into a buffering routine from time to time, but it will allow
you to turn in the box and no more rental fees.

It's just an option if your TV is Smart or not.

Thanks for the advice guys! Turns out that it was xfinity blocking this site for possible malware. I have used the advanced security from them for over a year but they have had no problems until in the last 7 days with reporting it. It was even reporting when i initially had the problems. i allowed access a few minutes ago and voila back in!
