Issues with hardcoded lights

Tommy, this is the light section that came with my download no blue lights mentioned and no fx_navblu.fx in the download.

maybe I do have the first model and never bothered updating if there was a update, it has disappeared for ever now with AS folding.

Will see what I get with your light section.

FSX SP2 I am pretty sure is uninstallable

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 3, -18.90, -116.71, 0.40, fx_navredh
light.1 = 3, -18.90, 116.71, 0.40, fx_navgreh
light.2 = 4, 61.35, -1.98, 2.70, fx_vclight ; pilot
light.3 = 4, 61.35, 1.98, 2.70, fx_vclight ; copilot
light.4 = 4, 54.20, 0.74, 3.00, fx_vclight ; engineer
light.5 = 4, 62.86, 2.54, -4.51, fx_vclight ; radop
light.6 = 4, 65.62, -2.43, -4.37, fx_vclight ; navigator

Tommy I have used your light section on my model after rustling up a blue formation light fx and it is as before in my screenie no white lights apart from the landing lights, the lights are not hard coded in the model they can all be moved in the light section of aircraft.

FSX SP2 is worth a try

FSX SP2 is worth a try

I installed the original FSX model, and it shows up correctly like yours; so I guess something happened along the way as they updated the model.

I've ported over a lot of my old FS9 aircraft, so I am a bit leery of installing SP2 at this time.

There was an updated version of the AS B-36 according to the Readme it was:
Convair B-36 Peacemaker for FSX v2.1 (2007)

The aircraft.cfg stated the following:

// FSX ALPHASIM B-36H Peacemaker Ver 1.2
// DD, 13th March 08, added the -C variant

[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -18.90, -116.71, 0.40, fx_navredh
light.1 = 3, -18.90, 116.71, 0.40, fx_navgreh
light.2 = 7, -15, -71, 2.3, fx_navblu
light.3 = 7, -15, 71, 2.3, fx_navblu
light.4 = 7, -15, 87, 2.2, fx_navblu
light.5 = 7, -15, 103, 2, fx_navblu
light.6 = 7, -15, -87, 2.2, fx_navblu
light.7 = 7, -15, -103, 2, fx_navblu
light.8 = 7, -25, 0, 4, fx_navblu
light.9 = 7, -19, 0, 4, fx_navwhih
light.10 = 7, -13, 0, 4, fx_navblu
light.11 = 7, -7, 0, 4, fx_navblu
light.12 = 7, -89.8, 3.5, 1.27, fx_navamb
light.13 = 3, -89.85, -3, 1.27, fx_navwhih
light.14 = 7, -89.8, -3.5, 1.27, fx_navamb
light.15 = 3, -89.85, 3, 1.27, fx_navwhih
light.16 = 3, 4.3, 0, -10.2, fx_navwhih
light.17 = 4, 61.35, -1.98, 2.70, fx_ALPHA_B36_vclight
light.18 = 4, 61.35, 1.98, 2.70, fx_ALPHA_B36_vclight

This version has 4 light switches on the main panel that allow all light sets to be switched on and off.

That's the version I'm running.....

The -C is a typo on AS's part (my fault); the model without the jets is actually the B model.

Won't help anyway sp2 that is.
Have acceleration and get the same out of place lighting effect in flyby mode.
Only thing I can tell you is hit cont/L to turn the landing lights off during flybys.

That is the exact conclusion I came too also......:salute:

Well, SP1 isn't an option at all for most high quality add-ons. SP2 is the minimum and Acceleration is the preferred version for most developers as it's simply the best and most complete FSX version.

FsX has a serious bug regarding to the lights; Aerosoft even mentions it in several of their manuals.
The position of the lights even changes when you change the airport; it can look right in Amsterdam but way of in Sydney!

Problem is that some of the high end FSX bells and whistles won't work in XP in any case, and I not going to upgrade my XP operating system any time soon. So I might be stuck with SP1 for a LONG time. I'll just have to pass on any FSX product that absolutely requires SP2 for the time being. Hearing this must drive the developers nuts; I finally make the move over to FSX, and I'm still not going to buy their FSX products....

I'm also using Windows XP and I'm running FSX Acceleration without any problems on an old Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM and a GeForce 8800GTS.

>I'll just have to pass on any FSX product that absolutely requires SP2 for the time being. Hearing this must drive the developers nuts

Why? There are very few FSX users who run FSX with SP1 only...

As I mentioned earlier, I had issues with micro stutters every now and then after I installed SP2; removing SP2 solved the problem. I'm pretty sure it's my CPU that can't keep up with my current FSX settings. I don't want to lower them any lower than they already are, as the sim will start to look like FS9 by then.
