It started snowing

Well for the whole week they have been predicting snow and it is finally here. It's a big thing for us because if it snows 1/18 of a inch everything closes down...lol. It is already up to 4 inches and it has been non stop on the News. It is kinda of funny when ya meet someone from up North and they see how much of the area closes down when we get a light dusting. All the stores yesterday were packed with people buying salt,shovels...ect..ect. The grocery stores were packed. People act like this will be here forever.Already their has be loads and loads of accidents due to these ding bats driving like they would on a summer day..lol...Mike

Moe, that's just a light dusting up where I'm from.

Good thing everything closes down with just a dusting.... people can't drive fer crap even on a bright sunny day around here. No snow yet and I think we'll be lucky if we see any here. Gotta do to Dover tomorrow and that could be interesting.

Fer a large fee I'll come down with the snowblower and clean out yer driveway. But I can't get the trailer out to load it up. LOL

Snow and ice absolutely paralyze the Hampton Roads and peninsula areas as they very rarely have accumulating snow or ice. Looks like you are in for a real interesting weekend. It's snowing like you wouldn't believe across most of Virginia. At least it is snow and not ice.

Hey Mike, I grew up in the foothills in North Georgia so I remember everyone freaking out over some snow. I remember the blizzard of 93', a whole 3 to 4 inches of snow in march! Grocery stores were out of milk, bread and toliet paper all over the area.

I now live in Minnesota, so I now know a thing about snow and how to deal with it. We still have drivers up here who drive like a bat out of hell after the first couple days of good accumilation and end up in a ditch and walk away to do it again the following year.

Down there you usually get more ice and snow build up. And there's the fact that ya'll don't have a fleet of snow removal vehicles keeping the roadways clean through out the day.

This will handle snow Moe. And send it at least 2 doors down. LOL

50" cut and 21 horses of power.

I lived in the midwest -- Illinois and Minnesota -- for nine years before moving to eastern North Carolina. We got about 2 inches last night. But no equipment + no experience for most drivers = button up and stay off the roads. I'm not complaining; it's just the prudent thing to do, same as icing your walk and carrying kitter litter in the trunk was prudent back in MN. I'm curious about the airport, but not sure how to check. (US Air flies in and out through Charlotte, but the field itself is uncontrolled.)

I guess your getting what we got here in Texas on Thursday. According the the Weather Channel the center of the storm system followed interstate 40 to the east coast.

Started snowing here at 12 noon, and we've got 2 inches as of 2:30. Only need 18"s more. LOL

God's honest truth there Mike! :d I was glad when my boss called to tell me Barnes & Noble was closed today, it's dangerous to be on the road with morons who tailgate and drive too fast in this weather.

Sure wish it would snow here ... right now its almost 72 out and just as humid as it can be ... only because the frontal area is sucking the gulf of mexico heat over top of us ...

as soon as the front passes, south of us, we'll get a little more cooler here.

Sure wish it would snow. LOL.

We got over 6 inches here last night in North Charlotte area...Its still snowing now.....

I went out to get my daughter from work about 9 and it was not bad..I went to work this morning at 7 and it was icy..I have no problems at all in this weather. But the ones from here ..LOOK OUT

They crawl up hills at 10 MPH till they loose traction and end up sideways in the ditch...LOL

I had to stop this morning for the fools to get up the long hills or not, but I was comming up ..i passed two also to their amazement..Then never made iot to the top and I waved Bye Bye to them...

Comming home tonight it was 23 out, and 3 inches or more ice everywhere..Again..No problems...I love it....

We might of had a total of 6 inches all winter in my area. A few years back, we got 40 inches in one storm. No one could drive off our road for 3 days. We had a bad hurricane that year, named Juan. The snow storm was named White Jaun.

It cracked me up to hear on the news that within an hour there had been over 50 wreaks. The State Police said if it is just a fender bender just to report it to your insurance and don't bother them...lol.

Mariereid - I remember Juan and White Juan very well, WHAT A MESS! I lost the cottage roof to Juan and the repairs to White Juan  :angryfir: :crybaby:. We are getting some "Maritime Weather" now so don't jinx us.

BTW I did not forget about calling you, I have been to Dart several times since I said I would, but never had 10 free minutes to get away from work, I will give you a ring when I get to town next time and maybe we can grab a coffee and swap "crash & burn" tales...
