When Mr Ito released his Macchi MC200 Saetta, I wanted to do some repaints for it. However the flightmodel from this model is not very inviting and the model has some faults and shortcomings which made me more or less forget this model. And slowely it dusted away on my hard disk.

However when Manuel released the amazingly beautiful MC.202 I just had to do something with the Folgore's predecessor. I decided to create some textures which would make me forget the cowl flaps don't open and that the flaps are modelled completely wrong. Whether I succeeded is up to your judgement.
The textures are still "work-in-progress" as I still need to add some weathering.

Now I will purchase airwrench and will try to make something useful out of the flight dynamics. I have some other textures in the pipe line so stay tuned.....

Cheers,
Huub

Huub,

looks real good to me, will admit I've never tried Ito's 200, I do remember having one in CFS2 though.

Airwrench is great, but it can still be tricky, and it takes a little time to get used to it, I've had it for years and still battle with it frequently. BUT, I wouldn't be without it ever. For me a tool as essential as AFCAD/AFX, ACM, Frhed, DXTbmp, etc. you get the idea. Aired is still handy for those quick flicks to AI only airfiles or a copy and paste from another file.

Airwrench and ACM are essentials when dealing with Itosan's FDEs. The other essential is time, which is the one thing I seem to lack at the moment, as I have this one (along with a number of others) on the To Do list.

Lookin good! The Italians made some beautiful (if largely obsolete) aircraft in their time. Something which the French considering their usual flair for design seemed to fail at in aviation of this era (i stress). I shall run and take cover now, but you know it's true ....... GENERALLY

great shots huub:applause:

which scenery is that in background?
it have to be some in Torino area as I can read from the weathered hangar

best regards
Thomas

Nice Huub! Now you have me climbing around in the back of my hanger to relocate this! Looking forward to it!

Major Giovanni Borzoni

During the autumn from September 1941 until May 1942 22nd Gruppo autonomo fought along their German allies at the Eastern front. During the exceptionally cold Russian winter Major Giovanni Borzoni was leading this unit from the open cockpit of this Saetta!

The camouflage scheme is know as "poached eggs". It is a three tone schem with concentric Giallo Mimetico 4/Bruno Mimetico mottles on a Verde Mimetico 2 underground, The lower surfaces are Grigio Mimetico. It is weird but in Italian the colours even sound better!

Huub

Huub, sometimes I reworked a few flight dynamics of fighters, and they are more fluid and accurate to fly.

Your skins are very beautiful, :applause: and I'm going to install and discover the C200...

Cheers !

Beautiful work, Huub! I am really amazed by the detail in the model and the colour... WOW! Did I hear someone say that the plane was one of Master Ito's models?

I downloaded and installed the C200 yesterday, and I began to look the flight model...
Examining and testing it, I discovered that the airfile is "powered" by a turbine... and, concerning the aircraft file, the half of the essential parameters were missing... and it is also powered as a turbine... Conclusion: the flight dynamics were not designed for the Macchi C200.. Today I worked and did tests for rebuilt the flight dynamics from scratch, sorry... with for base several researches, comparisons and combinations of existing flight models of blade-fighters... Not easy but interesting... For now, the base is clear, and I continue tests...

But this aircraft is very elegant, as several italian blade fighters... conclusion, several things to refine or to fix, but with a beautiful aircraft... The 3d model is nice.

Huub! What a wonderful looking paint job! It makes you want to reach and touch the screen! I can understand why your repaint would want to make someone go and find the model (if they don't already have it) just so they could apply your textures! Bravissimo! :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

This model is one of the last models Mr Ito made and it clearly shows the progress he made over the years. It is nicely done but it does have some shortcomings. However it also has a nicely modelled VC from which perhaps the textures and gauges might need some additional work.

As SOLOBO mentioned the flight dynamics are one of the things which desperately needs some rework. But with some new textures and new flight dynamics, I'm sure most people will enjoy this nice typical Italian fighter.

I'm currently finalising all three textures and I simultaneously working on an other project. So it might take a few days before the textures will be available.

Cheers,
Huub

Hi Huub

Wonderful repaints you're doing, she's coming along very nicely!

Don't hurry, take your time! (I'm quiet busy with Manueles MC202 anyway) :icon_lol:

Where can one download these jewels you have created?????????

Thanks for your kind words Gaucho, but they have not been uploaded yet. I think I have finished them, but I need to write some readme files and upload them. Not exactly my favourite things to do. I will make them available at the usual places.

Hopefully SOLOBO will be able to create some more realistic flight dynamics and share these with us. The model is definitely worth it.

Cheers,
Huub
