Ito gift

Thanks Chris!

It's prostate cancer, the cancer all men will eventually get as long as they live long enough. Some doctors say we all already have it, just some have it more than others. Anyway, it's highly survivable if caught fairly early, and mine was caught very early.

The surgery involves a few days in the hospital (off-line - auggghhhh!!!), a couple weeks of recovery from the operation, and a couple months of recovery from the side effects. Considering the location of the prostate, I probably won't be spending much time sitting in a desk chair in the week or two following the operation.

On the other hand, I won't be going to work to sit in a desk chair there, either.

I hope someone will take the initiative to select something we can chip in on. (And that the time frame for chipping in and getting our names on the list won't pass while I'm away from my computer!)

mick i hope you have a good recovery....guys we need someone to take the riens here..please..im sure someone has the knowlage to do this..i havent got a clue..please step up and take charge....:173go1:

Astoroth, in his post above, included a link to a place that sells all kinds of plaques and trophies. http://trophycentral.com/index.html They must have one that features an airplane.

Here's what needs to be done.

Someone select an appropriate plaque or trophy, or post pics of a few good ones that we could vote on.

Post an address to send contributions. Someone who's set up to receive cash via PayPal would be perfect; they wouldn't have to do any extra work. Someone here must have a PayPal account set up to receive money.

For the number of us who've expressed an interest in chipping in, the amount required would be pretty small, even for something very nice. Heck, it wouldn't even be necessary for everyone who wants to say "thanks" to Ito to chip in. If they did we'd soon have more money than we could possibly spend. Remember, the financial contributions and the value of the plaque or trophy aren't what matters. What matters is the long list of names of people who want to say "Thank You" to Ito.

Buy the plaque or trophy and have it engraved.

Figure out a way for folks to sign a list and make comments. A web page here on this site would probably serve the purpose.

Spread the word in other forums, including those on other FS sites, for people to come and sign and comment, and a deadline to do it by.

Get Ito's postal mail address.

It might be nice to find out for sure if he writes his name in his ReadMe files in the oriental manner or if he westernizes it. In other words, is Ito his given name or his family name. That way we can make sure we have it written properly in the oriental manner on the plaque or trophy. Since he's not strong in English, my guess is that Kazunori is his family name and Ito is his given name, and that his name on the plaque or trophy should read "Kazunori Ito," just as he writes it in his ReadMe files.

Maybe one of our Japanese members (Talos perhaps??? Isn't Talos Japanese?) could translate the comments into Japanese?

Print the signatures and comments on nice paper, pack them with the plaque or trophy, and send them to Ito.

OK, I've done most of the thinking. I hope someone else can fill in the little details and set it in motion.

Thanks for the good wishes for my health. I appreciate them! Surgery's next week, and by Christmas I expect to be a cancer survivor.

Got this email from Mr. Ito...

Dear Mike.

Thank you.......
My eyesight has decreased extremely.
Really....I cannot read the character of mail well if it doesn't expand.
Therefore, I am hardly writing the answer of mail now though it apologizes.
The doctor says that my left eye will not cure.
The right eye might deteriorate sooner or later, too.
I have received treatment with the laser of the right eye now, and The diabetic that causes this is treated at the same time.
Though it is good when it is possible to revive.........
This is a very embarrassed problem.

However.........I am slowly making Ryan FR now for the time being.

Regards.

Kazunori Ito.

Ah...its not good if you have diabetes. Its a horrible disease.Ito is doing quite well making the FS models, with his poor eyesight.
