It's nice to have guests...but also nice when they leave.....

It's nice to have guests...but also nice when they leave.....

I had a friend come visit me for the past few days. He brought his dog (a miniature schnauzer). I was a little apprehensive about the dog's reaction to my cats, and my concerns turned out to be valid. Almost the entire visit, he had to either keep the dog in a cage, or in his lap, with a firm grip on the dogs' collar. I was a nervous wreck, and so were all my cats! My dog Chief? He takes everything in stride; no problem.

My friend and his dog left this morning. I have to say I breathed a sigh of relief. Things are back to normal. But it saddens me somewhat. I had hoped for a more enjoyable visit. He is the guy who helped me build my computer system (twice now!).

My late Mother observed on numerous occasions that "Visitors are a lot like fish; they both begin to stink after three days." :ernae:

I have such a negative attitude toward having guests, that when we go visit, I insist we stay in a motel. Susan doesn't like that as much, but it's better than hearing me complain the whole time. I guess it goes back to when I was a kid: I was always the one who had to give up my bed and room and sleep on the living room couch.

Well, if the visitors happen to be my Mom, my sister or my brother, I'm alright with that! I don't mind at all. With that said, as much as I love them all, it is always nice to get back into "our routine" once they have left.

Pete~ I can understand your concern with your friend bringing over his pet. I've never experienced that. Usually if I get visitors, they don't bring their pets along.

Well the way I see it ... he was asking for it! After all Pete started it by dragging Chief along the first time he went. ;)

You know what they say about payback! :icon_lol:

when i visit my daughter we take our 3 dogs
but we stay in a hotel with the dogs
just stick a dog in the room sign
less stressful that way
