I did a little tweaking of the airfile....does anyone know how to create a "fixed pitch" propeller using AirEd?

SC, I've been hitting the outlying sites and went on a grand fit of downloading from Simviation last night myself. I know a little better now who built what version of what plane, I'm trying ti fill in the blanks.

Great Minds !

...I did a little tweaking of the airfile....

And I thought it was just ME !

I redid the original DP file [Akemi's is in Japanese, of course], and also tweaked his AIR file to be a little less "hot". Had to go back in and change the prop BACK to a 2 blade from a 3, tho - forgot that this was a VERY early IJA plane, and not a hot rod yet.

If one leaves the prop as a 2 blade AND wooden, I think it takes on the Fixed Prop persona...

Mr Bones: I exhausted the Simviation collection by downloading tons over the Holidays, and can't Wait for S-O-H's to come back on line. I need to re-download ALL of the new Pearl Harbor stuff after my recent meltdown !!

I tinkered down the gunstation line in the .dp and changed the 7.7s to 11 and the 12.7s to 18.4, the Jap 12.7 was roughly the same as an M2 .50. If you're a sharpshooter and have talent for deflection shots, you can do some damage with Akemi-San's new baby.

The Ki-43 IIIb should have been armed with two 20mm guns in the nose instead of the machineguns. According to Francillon, only two prototypes were built before the war was over.

There is a IIIb in Akemi Mizoguchi's website, but I never installed it.

SC, I'm on dialup, it's a pain for me, but I got 27 planes in the last 3 days, plus some missions and scenery. I want to get that complete 50 meg size Corsair collection, there are a few free wifi sites popping up. My little copcar computer has built in wifi.

I got a list of broken links, I hope some of those are restored. Shessi did some repaints of K&M's Ju-88 series I'd like that the links are broke, and I want to grab some more of the VB planes.

Sorry to hear about the meltdown. I hope you recovered the important stuff.

I got to dig into my Francillion and keep it a little handier. I was friends once with a man who was a gunner on a B-29, he said once they got to Japan there were several IIIBs they found had a sort of hodge podge field modification of one 20mm and one 12.7. This must be something history missed, though the research area at the AF Museum here is pretty exhaustive. He told me that the ones they examined seemed to have had shell ejection problems, which is consistent with a hasty, desperate sort of measure.

Thanks for the info!

They are not fixed, but a two blade variable piched metal propeller. You can simulate it puting a smaller value (0.9) at the aircraft.cfg file. About the guns, the DP are already made. I think we can use the old Northeastern Factory Ki-43-I as a patern to new skins. Hago Ki-43III cover both active versions: the "A" model with two 12.7mm machine guns and HA-115 engine with a two speed blower and the "B" version with two 20mm cannons and Kinsei engines (ONLY TWO BUILT). There's no report of Ki-43 planes camp modified for use one 20mm guns.
