Ivan Jurcaga Mig-21MF soon! (now released)

I feel kinda dumb, but how did you get the external fuel tanks?

Walter

Take a look at the manual for the panel (Pravý panel) :
- on page 5 (right side of the cockpit) you can see a panel button No 3
- use the mouse to turn it to the right
- then a weapon control panel opens for the five external weapon stations ...

It´s a bit easier if you have activated the "tool-tips-function" in fsx because many buttons are then described in english.

Thanks! :salute:

I think there´s already a quick start function included!

All you have to do is:
- press SHIFT+2 and
- in the pop-up window press the button for the vehicle (ground power) and after that
- press the quick start button
- after some seconds the aircraft engine spools up ...

THX newcomer !!! :icon29: OMG I was so blind and stupid :icon_lol:

Totally awesome work, thanks to all involved.

My only little niggle is the reflections on the inside of the canopy. Is there a way of toning them down a little? This afternoon I got totally disorientated and even a little airsick trying to fly VFR in her!:icon_lol:

This is an awesome piece of freeware! :applause: :ernae:

Thanks for the tip! Anyone know what the center console that pops up is for..?

You can use that pop-up center consul to set NDB frequencies (9 of them) while on the ground. THen you can switch between them in the air using 9 little round buttons on the right side of the cockpit. When that panel pops up, there are also some rotary switches that pop up on the top right side of the instrument panel, and you can play with those to get different loadouts (again, while on the ground).

@yoyo..... as for the flight dynamics... I have no idea how a mig 21 should fly, but there is a green light that illuminates on the annunciator panel when you trim up a substantial amount. I find that the aircraft will takeoff and land much much better when that light is illuminated. I find myself trimming the aircraft all the time, and I suspect that is normal for this type of aircraft. I remember my father telling me that he was constantly having to trim the F-100...... maybe it has to do with the high-fuel burn of these early supersonic fighters.

I like how it flies, but I have mostly stayed in the pattern trying to develop a safe landing procedure.

How are other people landing this thing without ripping off the gear or landing short?

Solved. In too same time :). My panel for Cessna (of Saitek) is active. Problem it was default trim of this panel. I found a solution and now I think I see FM of model. Thx for this reply.

Small correction needs effect of engine (smoke). It eats too many FPS for me.
I take sound from MiG21 F13 for sure, remember this from fs2004 from Captain Sim UB but Id like tho have the new one. Any idea for better sounds?

Keep the power and speed up. I typically land the Mig around 170-190 KIAS. I'm carrying about 70-80% N1 on short final. Use the landing flaps too.

The Mig does not like to land slow....long runways are in order.

I've only landed twice, so I'm not an expert. I only use speedbreaks after I have touched down, so that I don't end up losing airspeed and planting it down hard. :icon_lol:

That's my two cents.

Walter

This is more than likely a dumb question, but how do you pop the drag chute? I push the deploy button, but no dice.

Videos I've watched this evening show Mig-21MF's on final with their boards out but when I use it in the sim, the drag is so great that the continuous speed loss & rapid/high sink rate will cause me to fall short. Unless the fuel weight needs to be very low with a specific power setting & AoA. Need to test this more.

works fine for me. there is a deploy button on the left side with a yellow ring around it, and then a release button down on the left side by your hip to let it go once you are almost stopped.

@deathfromafar..... I agree... I think we should probably be using speed brakes and high power -- but the current flight model makes you sink like a rock when you put out the boards..... high AOA does not seem to help me. I've been landing well without them. I would love to know the real world procedure.
