See the word "Download" in the duckegg green box of the post by aeronca1 above? Click it.
On the new page that comes up find another duckegg green box with
"Download file: HTTP (EU), Torrent" in it. Click the "HTTP (EU)" link in that box.

Sorry Im, I misunderstood what you meant by "this one" - glad you're sorted. Oddly enough, I downloaded the manuals right off the Avsimrus site, no registration ... weird.

From the superb Mr. Francis Jacquet ... now on avsim ....

I found out through the grapevine that he's got this in the works ....

Finally, if you're not sure what to have for for dessert after a nice butter chicken and curry ... then this should get the juices going ....

Glad to help. That color name was all I could come up with. Some repressed reference from my youth building models of Spitfires I guess. I think duck egg green might be a little more yellow though. But it worked.

LSK der NVA.

There was two methods of doing camo in the LSK:
1) During overhauls in dresden with "official" colors and patterns
2) In the respective Geschwader with whatever paint there was and the main point being having spots in green and brown on the plane.

Obviously, these paints were done after the latter method.

The machines from JG-1, -3 and -8 were flying in 1990 and thus have accurate tactical numbers.
JG-2 and JG-7 are depicted here sharing one and the same aircraft (actually a "M"), with two different camo schemes before JG-7's disbandment in 1989 (arms reduction) and in service at JG-2.
JG-9 ultimately switched to MiG-23s in 1982, so this MiG continued its service at JG-3 until the end of 1984, when it most probably became an instructoral airplane at the "Militärtechnische Schule".
JG-8 got upgraded to the "bis" around 1977, so their -MFs never got to see a camo paint. This particular Fishbed ended up at the "Offiziershochschule für Truppeninstandsetzung" in 1977.

JG_Combo.jpg

I wanted to do one paint for one Geschwader each.

Too bad Ivan's Fishbed doesn't use spec maps.

Also, does anyone else have problems with the landing lights being always on?

- Edit:
Also, what's the "MFN" model for?

- Edit²:

Apparently it's a NATO version with different comm and nav equipment.

Nice repaints. Just my taste but I like your JG-7 and JG-9 best -- panel line "dirt" is more realistic (less).

I think the landing lights are hard coded to the MDL.

My understanding is that in the mid 1990's ten Czech Mig-21MF's were modified to MiG-21MFN standard. "N" as is NATO. They got IFF Mode 2 transponder, GPS, and other "stuff".
Externally the mods added several additional antennas and sensor panels (look at the antenna on the spine near the tail and the two extra antennas near the top of the tail on the sides).

Nice paints, Bjoern!

If there's any JG-7 planes after Frank has picked through them, I'll happily take one ... :icon_lol:

Nice scheme. I'm familiar with the others, but that one was a bit novel to me. Looking forward to them.

I want to include the source files in .xcf format, so everone can merrily modify the dirt or camo layers. Just need to ask the creator of the number stencils for permission.

I'm not laying hands on the paints anymore. Doing the research and managing them was enough of a PITA. Also, the varying degrees of dirty are there to make the paints a bit more random.

But thanks, guys.

Yes, they are.

Funnily enough, I haven't noticed the antennas, just the increased polycount.
The cockpits are one and the same though.

Agreed. Spec Maps would be great if he were to release an update.

It's a bit mysterious to my why Ivan would include bumps, but not specs but it's his model after all, he oughta know...

I can appreciate the amount of research involved. To come up with several unique but real schemes is no easy task. I do like the colors of the JG-1 example. They are a little like those on an Ecuator Mirage F1.

Research and assumptions.

I know a german forum with some former Fishbed drivers as members.
I think they'd kick my arse for the built in inaccuracies. :icon_lol:

Still waiting for permission. Don't you hate it when people have a real life? :icon_lol:
