FSX Iwo Jima 1945 is finish with the Beta testers getting their copy today. After they have a chance to review and corrections, if any, are made it will be released. Hopefully by the end of the week. In the meantime here is a video showing what to expect with the features of the island, the three airfields, Motoyama One (South Field), Motoyama Two (North Field) and Motoyama Three (unused). Hope you enjoy the video and back here soon when the beta testers are finish. Mark (Roger Wilco66) and I appreciate your patience.

Outstanding!:salute:

PS You do know when Marines hear out Hymn we are required to stand at the position of attention..........

Mud, I was in the U.S. Army for eight years and I stand at attention when I hear the Marine Hymn. Thanks for the comment.

Veteran's ='s Brothers!:salute: I've spent most of my adult life studying the Battle for Iwo Jima. I've been fourtunate enough to meet the living members of the first Iwo flag raising and most of their squad. To a man they claim to only be doing their job and are not hero's. I disagree with them, anyone who lived through that hell is a hero in my mind and heart. I've been waiting most of my simming life for some good Iwo Jima scenery......Thank you Guys, it's going to be awesome!

As an exBritish SF operative (MD), there's not much I haven't seen and done. After muchstudy of this truly awful event however, I believe my job was a piece of p***compared to what those guys undertook. What'smore, I believe those Marines would still have done so, had they known whatthey were attempting. The words brave and courageous hardly begin to describeit. There are very few combatants, either in history or current, that gain mycomplete and utter respect quite like those.

I both saluteand mourn them!

My Dad(may he RIP) was in the 3rd Marine Division on Iwo Jima so this scenery has a special meaning to me . Thanks Tom and all the others who have put all the hard work into this . Really looking forward to it .

Semper Fi !

Tom Stovall, the real driving force and creator of the project, with work included from Mark Shimmer, Guy Diotte, and Jim Dhaenens, has produced really a wonderful history-telling piece, in this scenery addon. Full of authentic details and effects, as I have mentioned to Tom, when seeing the sights and scenes recreated with this scenery, it re-kindles so many of the original wartime images and moving footage that I have seen in numerous documentaries over the years, all brought to fruition in this one very well done piece of work!

Here are some screenshots from recent testing, though there is way more than just what is shown here.

I forgot where I came across this, probably on one of the websites dedicated to the 506th FG, but I thought this might interest some, an original wartime illustration, I believe, highlighting the landing routine on Iwo (though not really any different than most Mustang/fighter landing routines of the period) - the Iwo Jima connection is what I thought was rather unique about it:

Also, this I thought was rather interesting as well. This paper weight, which could otherwise be caled trench art, was originally cast on Iwo Jima. Ed Linfante, a pilot from the 462nd FS, created a plaster mold (which still exists!) and used scrap aircraft aluminum, melted down, to cast several of these, which a number of the pilots/crew in the 506 FG took home with them after the war. There are actually several that are known to exist, still in the possesion of 506th FG vets/family and historians. This one, pictured, came up on ebay a year or so back, and was purchased by a member of one of the P-51 forums I belong to. It actually had come up on ebay years beforehand, with the seller not knowing what he had. It was purchased at the time and used as a set prop in Clint Eastwood's movie, "Flags of Our Fathers". It's most recent sale was by the person/company that purchased it for the film.

These sort of things remind me that I should maybe perhaps keep an extra eye on ebay sales, as I would absolutely love to have one of these pieces of history! (The "Sun Setters", as scribed into the wings of the Mustang in the cast, was the name given to the 506th, 15th, and 21st FG's).

John; My Dad hase one of those "paperweights". Only thing it is on a piece of wood & has the Navy Seabee emblem (90th NCB) on the island portion.
P.S. Don't forget all the Seabee Batallions who fought side by side with the Marines on the island, especially the 133rd NCB who came ashore with the 5th Marine Division On D-Day.
