Yes the possiblillities are ther for other versions to be done, once again thanks to Luca.

The Ju 87D will have ETO skins, as will the BF 109F and the Me 323, in-fact most MAW models can be brought over to the ETO!

Yes that is Crossram's Bv 222, I think we should all pester Ted to finish this off, it's an awsome model, it's been too long in the darkness, I think you'll agree with that Scott? lol

Nigel let me see what you have regards the Baltimore scheme, there is more planned for this model anyhow!

Would you be interested in a Norden bombsight for your B-24? It's almost done, I need just another day to clean up around the edges. You'll need to add some light framework for the glass nose. A little bit will do, don't want to block any more of the view as the sight takes up quite a bit already.

I sent a copy of your Norden sight pic to Capt. Winters, who gets aircraft ready for installation in ETO and PTO.

He is working in another country right now, and has no internet communications other than e-mail.

I heard back from him, and this is what he said:

"Not bad at all, needs a little bit of cleaning up on the alpha chanel, and the brightness needs a tone done, but he has captured the essense of the sight very well.

I wish I could find a photo of the sight that looks like the one he has. All I can find thus far is side shots or front on shots, etc.

It's good to see others thinking about this stuff as well.

Can you post on the SOH forum for me, tell him (if he hasnt already done so) to increase the image size to 2048 x 2048. This will enable him to make the aplha chanel much crisper (removing the black edging you can see around the sight) and bring in small details like name plates, screw heads etc."

He also asked me to post a pic of a sight he did for a Lancaster for the next ETO Update to show you what he's talking about.

All things considered, I'm afraid this is the best I can do. I've spent too much time on this project already and need to call it finished. All I really wanted in the beginning was a nicer bombsight in the Firepower B-24, something better than just the stock cross reticule. Then I ran across a good photo of the Norden in a half decent perspective to use as a starting point.

I need to get back to building multiplayer missions and flying MAW. That's where my real interest lies. However, the final version does look a bit better than the beta pic posted.

I'd be happy to pass along my collection of Norden pics/source files to Capt. Winters. Just let me know how to contact him and I'll upload about 30mb of info. I'm sure he could do this project justice.
 
:kilroy:Eddie, here is clarification. Capt. Winters has been trying to get a Norden for all American bombers in ETO and PTO for some time. I knew he was working on that, and that he could not find the right views of the item that he wanted.

Apparently Vogelscheuche has found that view.

The Norden was used in most US medium and heavy bombers.

No confusion is intended.:d

Ball Turret

What a fantastic aircraft. I cannot wait to fly this bird!! Thanks so much for the time and effort you are putting in.

I am really interested to see that the depicted aircraft has a belly gunner. I live in a village on the edge of East Dereham in Norfolk England. Our nearest airfield is Shipdham. In fact I have flown from there with a friend of mine. During WW2 Shipdham was home to the USAAF and B24 Liberators flew from there, In the flying club house are a number of pictures, including photographs of the B24's. Not one of them has a ball turret or belly gunner although different marks of aircraft are shown.

Does anyone know why some had belly gunners and some did not? Was it for various operational reasons such as saving weight for long flights?
