JA_PILOT and US_PILOT

Where might I find this Item? "US_pilot" It's required as a payload on the B-29's I downloaded.
Thanks

Thanks ro, I am grabbing this, also. Can't find him, I must have got him with some aircraft. I always used to have the US and Japan pilots in my aircraft folder.

Well, dang it! I just looked in one of my installs and there it is! :isadizzy::salute:

Hi kwb737!

I am glad someone brought this up, since I was responsible for putting those pilot figures in Gnoopy's B-29 cockpit when Jagdflieger first made this splendid bird available for SOH's friends. Her cockpit looked so sorely desolate without pilots sitting there that I could not leave it alone.

I uploaded here a pack with alternative prop textures, exh effects and dp back on March 2007. The filename is "GNPY_B29_propexh_KH.zip" and it includes Mauro Giacomazzi's US pilot figures.

Now I have a different approach for the B-29 crew. Although those kaki pilot textures look good for a US bomber crewman in the PTO, I don't like the fact that such pilot must be present in CFS2 root \AIRCRAFT folder, taking the room that can be used for another aircraft. We all know CFS2 100 installed aircraft limit can be reached real fast, and, after that, we get error messages while missions and MB do not work anymore.

I changed Giacomazzi's pilot with Bismarck13's Beaufighter pilot figure, which can still be loaded via dp file as a payload, but without the need to lose an aircraft from the installed list, since it installs directly in CFS2 \scenedb\weapons folder.

If anyone is interested in Gnoopy's B-29 dp file modified to accept William Dickens' Beaufighter pilot let me know.

Cheers!

Can't the figure be converted into scasm code? I think MDLC can do this but I never converted some MDLC into scasm. I think, if we have it as "scasm" we can convert the figure to BGL and make a weapon so the figure won't take place in the aircraft folder and can be loaded as weapon.

Excellent idea Wolfi! I generally replace the 'aircraft' file pilots with Martin Wright's RAF pilot (which requires some DP tweaking). I had forgotten about Bismarck's pilot & intend to do some experimenting with this one also.

JA_PILOT

As long as we are on the subject. LOL!! Anyone know where I might find "JA_PILOT" ?
I looked in several Japanese planes but no luck.
Thanks.

William Dickens also did two different pilots in weapon format: one Australian (I think with the Beaufighter download) and another French (in the MB.151 or MB.152 files).

Anyway, it would be nice to have a standard BGL pilot set for the different nations that used the same basic texture.

It is also one of Mauro Giacomazzi's pilot figures. I'm not too sure where it can be found though. In a pinch, I suppose you could change the name in the DP to US pilot without screwing up the mounting hardpoints.

Wolfgang Faber's...

...PILOT_Japan.zip might do the trick.

According to his read-me file, these are FSC's complete with textures for creation of new pilots.

Have a go - I know He'd like to see his work shared again ! :ernae:

Rami - Could you please move this file over to the Archives too ?

SC, Winzip is giving an error popup when opening your zip file...says its "an invalid archive, try downloading again". Might need to check that before Rami moves it to the site archives.

I discovered that the file was uploading fine, but downloading corrupted, so do NOT try to download it from this thread...

That file WAS too big to be attached here, but uploaded to the Archives just fine - please D/L it from the 'What's New' section after it has been approved, okay ?

Thanx, Bearcat ! :salute:

Is this the file for the ja_pilot? I found it in the f1m2_pete file.

Hey!!!! That's the one!!!! Thanks very much Take53084. I remembered it was included in Japanese aircraft folder but I couldn't remember which one. Thank's again for helping me out and to everyone else for their responses.

Oh, my! What a mistake!

OK folks, my Alzheimer disease is really rampant these days!

I did not replace Giacomazzi's pilot with WD's pilots, I replaced it with Wolfi's US pilot included in his Helldiver pack!!! Boy, sometimes I can truly embarass myself..... :icon_lol:

I had completely forgotten that, even if I did it just a month ago, somehow Wolfi's reply to this thread lit the light bulb in me brain. It's funny he is suggesting to convert Giacomazzi's pilot in SCASM code and he did it already for the Helldiver pilot!

That's it, Wolfi's US pilot can be loaded as a payload and installed in scenedb\weapons as well, moreover, it is dressed in light kaki overalls, just like B-29 crew members in the Pacific.

Please, find attached below the dp file with the crew hardpoints modified to accomodate Wolfi's pilot in Gnoopy's B-29 cockpit
: just rename the filename to B-29.dp.

The dp is the latest developed by Ghost Rider for his B-29 megapack, I only took the nuclear payload out since it's for a "normal" B-29A.
Cheers!
