Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer" fighters

JensOle

SOH-CM-2023
Hi,

I decided to make the JG5 paints a dedicated thread to not highjack John's warbirds thread.

Latest screenshots of Focke-Wulf FW-190A-8 "White 10", of Rudolf Artner 9./JG5 (Herdla Norway April 1945). Huub has once again helped out with some textures, this time his loadout texture with decals for the droptank, thank you!

Some small changes, the missing grey on the rear edge of the wing has been fixed and I have made a new spinner swirl decal for all 3 spinner speeds.

Jensole,

Have you released any of these beautiful paints yet and if so, where? They are very impressive!

Stan

Thanks!

Mathias, yes Huub helped me out.

I'll see if I can upload a pre release version to this thread.

Good to hear! I think it turned out to be a rather interesting scheme, even if it is far from spectacular.

As it fits under the same title......

The repaint came out great Jens-Ole! Now you have your aircraft for the Rygge airfield, with the one below I try to convince you that there should be a FSX version of Herdla air field as well. For more inspiration http://www.ronaldv.nl/abandoned/airfields/no/hordaland.html
Jens-Ole you can only blame yourself as you started with the Beaufighter repaints....

For the blue 9, I'm nearly there, but still have some minor things to do. However there might be some good news for those who love sophisticated German fighters very soon, so I'm currently very busy with something else.....

But as said nearly finished, still some detailed weathering to add....

Done!

Personally I think it is finished. As is already long after midnight, I will try to upload it tomorrow.

Huub another absolutely Gorgeous paint :cool:<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Woow! Looking good, White 10 has a rottenflieger!

Beside the far northern Luftwaffe bases, Herdla was probably the base which had the most action for the last part of the war, particularly due to the Coastal commands operations against German shipping along the Norwegian coast. Sadly the Herdla fighters and the Coastal commands strike wings, particular from Banff and Dallachy, fought a very bloody battle in the last months of the war. Remember reading a RAF Mustang pilot which described the air battles along the western coast of Norway as far more dangerous than the Bomber escort missions into the rest of Germany at the time. JG5 had fuel and many highly trained pilots.

Herdla has a very interesting scenery as well, located on an island north west of Bergen, more or less facing directly into the North Sea. The location was rather cramped with short and narrow runways, but had 2 staffeln of III Gruppe of JG5 from late 1944 until the end of the war (search for Herdla in google maps).

White 10 is an Herdla fighter as well, so an scenery of the bad would be very welcome.

Norwegian scenery add ons to make flying in Norway more realistic and fun: (They are only available from this Norwegian site and and I suppose they re not widely known)

-"Norway Scenic X" (or its newer version NSX_II) is a nice addition to make flying in Norway more realistic. All new land class, coastlines, waterways, rivers etc.

-"Norway quality mesh" (for FS9, but works perfect in FSX)

Its available in the library

Thanks for the links Jens-Ole, downloading now.

The repaint is available in the library. Get it while it is still hot!

Cheers,
Huub

Below Norway with the files recommended by Jens-Ole (indeed very nice)

A few more Fliegerhorst Herdla 190s. I really enjoy this "old" model.

White 20 of 9./JG 5 with heavy winter camouflage as it looked in march 1945. This aircraft crash landed on the shore close to Herdla. Of interest is also the late war German crosses, few 190s at Herdla had these. Blue 13 of 12./JG 5 as it looked in April 1945. Both were among a handful A-8s at Herdla with the blown canopy and even if they are A-8s, the most realistic model will be the Fw 190A-9 with the correct canopy.

The screenshots are from P3D, but as this is a FSX model an we already have this JG5 thread, I'll post them here.
