Jap fighters 3d models

The problem with those models, specially Pedro Caparrro's is that they are in OBJ format and set as a single mesh. They are a Royal PITA to separate the meshes, I looked at them to convert for Strike Fighters use but they would be more work than designing it from the ground up

hi, I am just curious, could you share such OBJ model? sometimes I am able to auto detach such parts with some tools...

They are part of the plane package at ShareCG. You need to register to be able to download files and it is a free registration

There are a few files from both developers (and others), Between Pedro Caparros and Neil WIlson they had a friendly rivalry posting models but Neil Wilson passed away, I think last year.

ok, some stuff for gmax playing. the OBJ source is autodetached mesh parts. differs model by model.

Mitsubishi-J2M3-Raiden-Thunderbolt quick converison into gmax project download here.

Description: OBJ-->3DS-->GMAX initial port.

Notes:
* no CFS3 file structure.
* no CFS3 moving part features or so on.
* this model has no landing gear wing cutouts (bay) - the CFS3 gear animation can be made with the gear animation "hiding" trick (the wheelwell tag feature or keyframe fix).

Reccomended steps to get the model into game:
* needs to rescale and reposition of the model into the proper arplane dimensions (is smalled now and wrong oriented / positioned)
* to remove some of the mesh triangulation you may try to use the gmax MeshSmooth modifier aswell)
* all mesh parts should be resmoothed (gmax Smooth modifier) to get better mesh shading.
