jeep with a punch for CFS1... and maybe 2...

Hello you all CFStwo-ers:wavey:

Per smilo's advice, I invite you to have a look HERE.

If you are ever tempted to try my CFS1 jeep in CFS2, go for it, I don't mind. The plain version jeep is already available at CFS1 add-ons.

Tell me how it goes. And if you have any ideas or, better yet, pictures concerning the placementn of ammo boxes, post in my CFS1 thread.

Thank You, and have a nice Easter.

Hi Huba,
Thanks for that. Looks good, fun to drive, and needs nothing else to drive in CFS2. (Just maybe contact/scrape points may need a tweak as the CFS world is flat and CFS2 isn't?)

Good scale in CFS2 and a very good looking Jeep!

Cheers Shessi

Thanks Shessi:ernae:!
It is the first time I see her in CFS2. Not too bad...

Contacts and scrapes points are probably OK. I would look into the landing gear damping and spring load. CFS1 world, especially in the Alps where it was tested, is not particularly flat...:kilroy:

I see only one place, from the screen capture, where Z-buffering is acting-up. The middle part of the pioneers' tools is "sinking" in the side panel. But if you look at the painted grooves in that panel, they pretty much matched the void. Copy-pasting the missing part of the axe and shovel handles in these grooves should do the trick.

The scale seems OK and I'm pleased to hear that driving goes well. The AIR file is a "primitive" FS98. Ivan has tried to make one with a more "sophisticated" CFS1 AIR file, but so far, more sophisticated means more troubles.:isadizzy:

I have CFS2... tucked in its original box. My PC simply does not have enough muscles to play it.

But I had CFS2 in mind nevertheless; the 3d "dashboard" instruments are one unit in front of the dashboard itself, just to make sure Z-buffering will not make them flicker.

Happy you like her, my dear "two-ers".:ernae:

Hi Hubba,
Yes, the z-buffer is acting up on the 'stencilled' information plate, light lenses and spare wheel centre, as they flicker.
The dashboard is fine.

The contact points are great on hard surfaces, just that CFS2 rough surface is sampled to a much lower level than CFS1, as you say I'll take a look at the spring loading, but really if left it's not a problem at all.

Here is a pic of it in FSGW3 or if you like, modded Fs2004. Works straight out of the box, just needs a few tweaks to get it right as the top speed is only 11mph! Maybe put it on the Fs2004 forum, see if they like it?

Like the steering ratio, very accurate! A friend of mine used to have a French made 'Willys' Jeep and we used to drive it over a field he had. God! the amount of play in the steering and the wheel to wheel turn ratio was huge, I suppose when it was loaded up and with no power steering it was spot on..LOL!

I'm surprised about CFS2, you must have a really ancient pc not to be able to run it!!

The more I look at it the more I like it, absolutely spot on in looks. (Maybe rotating wheels next?).

One smart looking Jeep..:applause:

Cheers Shessi

p.s After 7 odd years here at the SOH, you're the only one to pick up on the name...good one! It's a long story so I won't bore you..:d.

Well Shessi...

... the least I can say is that you are a "dream comes through" beta tester:applause:!

You described exactly the rough-spots I was expecting. If you don't mind, I would like to send you a version that, I think, would cure most flickering. The FS2004 screen capture had me sit and wonder...:isadizzy:... this is really my jeep?

I'm surprised about CFS2, you must have a really ancient pc not to be able to run it!!
W98SE, CPU=667MHZ Celeron, video=8 bits Intel "Chipset":redf:...

Thanks for all the compliments, I'll take them all! The rotating wheels were considered but, finally, rejected. Like any modeller in any game, I had to make compromises. The rotating wheels were simply not worth the efforts for the return "visually-wise". They also have a tendency to turn in the wrong direction at low regime.:banghead:

P.P.S.- Actually, I was referring to CFStwo-ers, but who's counting...:kilroy:

Mon Ami,
Sorry, I missed where you were from, so you would appreciate a French Jeep as well!

And YES that really is your jeep in FS2004, looks great doesn't it?!!:applause:

I understand about the wheels, not a problem, anyway who sees them when you're driving the vehicle?

As for CFS2, that's more than enough pc to run basic CFS2, go on give it a try.....or do you think you may be tempted too much...:d

I'll PM you.

Cheers Shessi

I know for a fact that CFS2 looks like cr*p on my PC, I've tried. FS2000 just make it if I cut advanced visual effects. CFS2 works fine... until I get the "glaring effect". Looks like a bouquet of multicoloured triangles especially designed to provoke splitting headaches... and it does wonders at that!

I'll wait for a better horse to try that trail.

I had the same problem years ago with my windows 98 machine. Turned out to be a driver problem for the chip set . The company had a new driver at their web sight, quick fix and years of fun since. Hope this helps Wahoo.
