I've bin testing my own patience with this one, I've spent all night reworking the bare metal textures. It's time for some snooze.

Steve, just installed your Egyptian paint. In a word, NICE!!!!!! Now if I can just dry out everything from all my drooling during the wait :applause:

I have another Egyptian aircraft but it carries North Yemeni national markings.

I have just uploaded another four schemes. 2 East German, the Egyptian Airforce loaned to North Yemen, and the Chinese CAAC. They will show up once admin has done it's thing.

Last couple of schemes are done. An all grey Soviet Airforce Scheme and a bare metal soviet civil reg, cos I wanted something too fly with minimal markings.

Hey Steve,

Just wanted to thank you very much again for all those great Il-14 repaints.

Cheers,
Maarten

It's been fun painting up some older schemes, but I have been toying with a Avia Super 14 paint and an old chinese Y6 scheme. I took a couple of days of the Il 14 series and went and finnished up on a couple of old storch paints.

Hi Steve,

That looks very promising indeed.
One correction: Il-14s have never been produced in China. (Wikipedia etc. got that wrong) There have been plans to "licence" build the Il-14 as Y-6, but in the end these plans never materialized. Only Soviet-, East German- and Czechoslovak-built Il-14s were used. (see the book "Ilyushin Il-12 and Il-14 - Successors to the Li-2" by Yefim Gordon and Dmitriy Komissarov, Midland Publishing, Hinckley, England) At no place do Gordon and Komissarov even mention the designation Y-6, neither do the other books I have which describe the Il-14. Would have been interesting though.

The Shvetsov ASh-82T engines however were "re-invented" in China and called HS-7. They were actually produced and used in Il-14's.

For the Y-6 bit, see http://www.designation-systems.net/non-us/china.html.

Cheers,
Maarten
