Jet Heat Exhaust

Is there any utility to add this effect to jetliners in FSX. I think we had it in FS9?

David

or maybe you mean heat blur...like the Lomac sim has offered for many years...:kilroy:

it would add a nice effect for external views and screenshots.

jetwash has either to do with those tremendously turbulent vortices from the larger planes thrust and wake errrm turbulence...or those guys with the hoses and squeegies at the other end of the apron - those effects are largely invisible, but heat blur can be seen..or at least the effects of viewing an object through the heated exhaust of a jet engine can be seen.

zat whatchu mean? :kilroy:

No, this effect has never existed in any FS.
In FS9, there was only some kind of fake, using semi transparent smoke effect. Of course this is also possible in FSX with the same effect, but this will never look as good as the real heat blur like in LOMAC.

The effect in LOMAC requires some special graphic operations which are not possible in the graphic engine of FS at the moment. Maybe in FS11...

As far as I can recall, you couldn't use anti-aliasing and heat blur at the same time in LOMAC.

I remember seeing a pic with Jet wash in flight sim. I thought it really looked cool. I only saw the one shot about a year ago. Could of been one of those altered photos. Would be a really cool affect though.

It was 100% sure an edited shot, like 90% of the screenshots here.
One again, the "jet wash", "heat blur" etc... never existed in FS, never EVER. That's bad because it really is one of the coolest and most realistic visual effect out there :isadizzy:

Ya - watching the aircraft in http://www.flightlevel350.com/ it's like it SHOULD be as part of the aircraft as retracting landing gear. When they takeoff in wet weather they suck the water right off the runway - now that would be some effect :jump: FS11? Just a thought! :173go1:

I love the heat blur effect in COD4....would be very nice if it could be included in FSXI......although I'd prefer the VC rain effect to be reinstated first:kilroy::d

Sucks really because there is no excuse for FSX not having heat blur especially since its been around for years now in games of all type from First Person Shooters, sims, and Strategy games.
