That looks great! It'll be a nice companion for the FR Heron in Apache colors.

I'm not a painter, but I understand that the PK is a bit tedious for the Dove....so everyone's repaints are all the more appreciated!

Fingers crossed for a Reading Airlines (Pennsylvania) repaint someday...

Not one for me.. I'll not be pulling any US liveries for the Dove but that said.. it's a lovely job thus far. Should I ever venture outside the confines of UK airspace.. I'll be looking it up:encouragement:

Curious as to what folk think of this model I have not bought it for reasons various but I have a lot of others from JF which while OK for price, have been disappointing and what seemed like good work was somehow unfinished, so reluctant to dive in on this one, for that reason. (For example really looked forward to the DC-8, great textures, graphics but bugs in the handling and performance which made it quite unpleasant to sim with.

I have always had a fond spot for the Dove and actually nearly bought one for real once but there were significant maintenance issues with respect to the spar and epennage (Major rebuild required), that was the same for all of them, short shelf-life. Been in a real Dove (Solomon Islands Airways had one for a goodly while) but never got to pilot one myself. Sturdy and nimble performer for the engines (a good turbine would have made all the difference). Cabin was spacious and comfortable but cockpit was a squeeze and all that glass in hot areas made them hard work. They had a real pocket airliner feel. Good Navigation trainer for the military.

So what do you all think so far?

Footnote: If someone does a Flying Doctor or NT Medical Service or MacRobertson Miller paint then I guess I would have to get it no matter what. :icon30:

I do have this beauty and really enjoy it despite it's faults. Most of those are easily corrected though. At the moment it's a hard choice, either fly this one or the Flight-Replicas Heron....:biggrin-new:

..... Cabin was spacious and comfortable but cockpit was a squeeze and all that glass in hot areas made them hard work.

The issues with the trim and sounds have been discussed variously and fixes found (plus, I understand JF is working on a service pack) otherwise I'm really enjoying this. The thing I like about it is the "feel" of the cockpit. BendyFlyer - you said it was a squeeze and somehow the designers of this model seem to have created that sensation in the model, at least that's how it feels for me. I'd like a DME read-out on the traditional panel but that's really the only deficiency in the traditional navaids (you can dial in the 0.5MHz frequencies we have for some NDB's in the UK, a fact that many other models seem to overlook). Haven't tried the "up to date" panel yet.

Ground handling is very good indeed, especially with two throttle levers and toe brakes. (again some models seem to overlook this).

I'm enjoying it.

its a great plane i like it so far too bad it does not have mixture controls so its limited in alt :dizzy:

and the lack of a cabin too which is a easy fix

Thanks for the feedback. I thought there would be no cabin, but I don't really miss cabins in most models so that is not an issue. I would agree re the Heron which is very good indeed. Interesting or curious that there are no mixture controls. Well when I am finished flogging around in the Mallard might be time to do the Dove.

The Dove didn't need mixture controls, the engines being supercharged and fuel injected;)

Currently working on a Sea Devon - XK895 when painted as a Admiral's barge, based at HMS Daedalus(RNAS Lee-on-Solent).

Apologies for the green roof aerial on the right of the canopy but the aerial is texture mapped to the right upper wing root so there is a choice, either a green aerial or a white bar across the wing root! You would perhaps be forgiven for thinking that the texture mapping was done deliberately to p*ss off painters but personally I believe it is lack of attention to detail as the Sea Devon paint include in the JF package has one white aerial and one grey aerial!
Oh well, carry on regardless.

There is a patch coming which addresses a few minor bugs and customer comments. This "lack of attention to detail"will be addressed in that.:engel016:

Don't forget the missing AE under the LH wing!

Hats off for sticking with it Peter. It'll be welcome despite the glitches;)

Several of the posts re the discussion of repaints have been moved over to the dedicated 'Dove Repainters' thread at the request of a responsible person (aka 'Pat') to focus on that subject.
:encouragement:
Do not be alarmed, just a little housekeeping!
