Too much fun!

It's nice to see a new younger guitarist that reminds of the sort of guitarist I grew up idolizing.

That little gal is one serious Axe Grinder. I saw her playing in the "Michael Jackson This Is It" video/movie and I was totally blown away! I had not heard of her before that.

I guess if you like a droning 'pop' version of 'Voodoo Chile' with no soul or energy.

Great to see the kids interested in good ol blues and rock. They might not understand it but if they can appreciate it, more power to em. :jump:

Here is Angilque Kidjo with Buddy Guy

my favorite is the Jimi slow version

Cheers

And before I get jumped, yes I actually do like Orianthi.
She is technically an excellent up and coming young guitarist.
She's an outstanding rock guitarist.
And she can obviously "shred" with Steve Vai, for example.

Me too! I could spend hours watching YouTube videos of her that people have uploaded. I remember reading somewhere that she wants to release an all instrumental cd. That one will be a "must have" in my opinion.

I find watching these video's quite depressing! With all the development work I have put into FSX the last few months, my guitar and keyboards skills are getting stale. If I brush up on my music skills then my 3ds Max and Photoshop skills will suffer. Sometimes you just can't win by having too many interests!

Regards, Mike Mann

She's better looking than Hendrix ever was I will grant you that, but give me the original anytime.
I wonder what Jimi would be doing now had he not destroyed himself. He was just moving across into some interesting jazz/soul tinged music and away from the pyrotechnics when he imploded.

I've got nothing against Orianthi, because she can play a musical instrument; I only point out that it is desirable in any form of mass media to be Young Pretty People. I very much doubt John Mayer would be considered more than a competent blues guitarist if he didn't look like he fell out of a Gap ad and was therefore highly marketable to young devotchkas. I can't imagine anyone like Janis Joplin or Frank Zappa arising within our current music business paradigm.

If he were alive now Jimi Hendrix would have serious hearing loss. Lots of conspiracy theories surrounding his death. I doubt we'll get the whole story anytime soon. All I know is that he's dead.

Actually she's already done almost that. Her first CD "Violet Journey" was an old style guitar ripping collection of music. Much more guitar oriented than her latest ones "Believe" and "Believe II". I like the new stuff but prefer the pure Orianthi of her first one.

One of the few videos I've found of tunes from her first CD is the ones of her playing "Lights of Manos".
