Usio's USS Porter. Lead ship of her class of Destroyers, launched Dec 1935, commissioned 1936. Deployed to Pearl Harbour, leaving 2 days before the attack, Porter operated in the Solomon Islands. On 26 October 1942 in the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands, Porter was torpedoed, possibly an errant torpedo from a ditching Avenger, and was eventually sunk by gunfire from USS Shaw.
