Atleast that's what i read in Miltech Sim's news letter this morning...

Douglas C-47 . . . ?? Huh ??. .

Nothing about that underneath the 'More Information' button, just something about "1944 Lantheuil/Creuilly LGB9 - Advanced Landing Ground B-9 " . . .

I stumbled over sort of an announcement that says "Famous Flyer 09 Douglas C-47D Skytrain and Waco CG-4A" but don't we already have that ? From AH not from Miltech ?? . . .

Can somebody shed some blackout light on this ?

Btw, i picked up something on the side as well : next famous flyer will be the Boeing 707. That's great news, isn't it !?? Atleast to me it is. . .

Whatever it is, I'll pass on it. The 707 sounds interesting though - I wonder who the developer is ?

Well, the Advanced Landing Grounds played their part after D-Day, so MilTech have a significant discount on it, well worth buying I think.
We have the DC-3 from AH, the C-47 is a separate package (also from AH on the Marketplace), including the glider, also worth buying (just had one quick flight).

The 707 sounds interesting though - I wonder who the developer is ?
There is a bit of fuss on the official forum about this, the developer is also AH ... not got a good track record with big Boeings...

Ah, okay -thanks for the info. Incidentally, I wasn't aware AH had ever done a large Boeing.

EDIT: The Boeing 307 Stratoliner - just now remembered it.

Yes, thanks Keith ! Interesting... a 707 by AH.. I am in contact with Barry off and on. He never told me anything about a 707 in the pipeline. Sly fox... ;-)

Anybody know the deal with the Waco ? It's being towed by a Cessna ??..... When i click the "Call Towplane" thingy nothing happens. (not read the manual yet)

Edit: just did, been waggeling my tail for half an hour but the Sky Train pilot must've fallen asleep. It just sits there in front of me, engines running but not moving an inch. I clicked the Request Towplane mike a couple times, nothing happening.... Unlocked parking brake just to be sure..

Any successful Waco pilot outthere ?

I made a few comments in the other D-Day thread...go into the Launch Method tab for the C47 - I can select the Virtavia Stirling too which is historically accurate :) but sadly the Tuggie can't handle the Stirling properly with it's weird ground handling/take-off so it ends badly...
- as a real-life glider pilot I had to give the Waco a go ... it does seem to glide VERY well, as good as a glass-fibre two-seater so not too realistic but great fun. Will have to try a cross-country soaring flight in it!
The Cessna tow plane doesn't have the grunt but go into the menu and select the C-47 tow-plane and all is well.
Also use the Customisation tab to replace the ASXGS serial # with something more appropriate.

Had a cable break shortly after take-off and the tow-plane crashed so something weird happened, but usually it's OK.
But the C47 is fine, even get the wing-runner running along holding an imaginary wing :)
I also like to set the Waco payload to max, I think it flies more realistically that way.

Thanks, Keith. But what do you do that i don't ??...

I select the Waco in the MSFS aircraft menu, i click the 'Launch method' button and select the C-47 Tow plane and put us on runway 07 Coningsby. All's well on the western front. I see the tow line running towards the Sky Train in front of me, hear the engines ticking over, i click the 'Request Tow Plane' microphone thingy, i waggle my rudder a couple of times and, as far as i know (i read the manual), that's all there is to it, right ?

The only thing is nothing is happening......

I only flew a glider a couple of times, i did see the wing runner as well, for all i know it worked perfectly. It's not like i need a key to press in order to start the towing/gliding process, right ?... (i seem to remember something like that when i flew a glider in MSFS..)

It wouldn't have anything to do with add-on proggies like Airshow Assistent, FlightControlReplay, or FS Realistic, would it ?

Now that i have the C-47 and Waco glider i'd love to see them at work. Any hints/tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks ! 👍

I've never clicked a 'Request Tow Plane' microphone thingy - don't know what that is?
I do waggle the rudder - full deflection both ways (part of my CBSIFT-BEC pre-flight checks anyway) - at the 2nd full deflection the wing-runner will start waving his arms.
If he doesn't start waving you haven't gone to full deflection (dead-zone needed perhaps).
If he waves but the C47 stays put then there is something wrong with the tow-plane.
Extreme hot weather can stop the Cessna tow-plane.
I suggest trying a default glider, once that works go back to the Waco.
If all else fails you can pull the cable release and press the magic height button (for me it's `, left of 1 and below Esc) just to try landing the Waco.

Can't locate the launch button. Hint;s please. Thanks.

From the Aircraft Selection menu select the Waco, from the blue buttons left on the menu click 'Launch Method' and then select the C-47.

Let me know if you have that wing runner holding your port wing, Ok ? I can't seem to get him to show up, hence (i think) the whole towing sequence doesn't want to start. . .

It's the handheld microphone at the right of the Yoke (behind it are the headphones). It lights up blue and yellow when you click it but doesn't seem to do anything else. In any case you don't seem to need it at all... ;-)

The wing-runner at my airfield must be particularly shy because he keeps hiding in the shed. So far i haven't seen even a glimpse of him no matter how much i flap my rudder about. The rudder pedal wires are really beginning to wear out....

I'll try the cable release and magic height button next, i have hunge a that will not work either. We'll see. Thanks again, Keith ! 👍

Thanks for your response.

In regard to the man on the left side you have learned by now you must waggle the rudder to see the man and initiate starting the C-47.
I twist my flight stick to do so. Pedals if you have them. Strange it does not work for you.

Releasing the landing carriage and cable during towing has turned out to be very tricky. I've only been successful by pausing the sim to activate the proper views,, ctrl-3 & 4, to release or slow the speed. I've snapped the cable several times exceeding the 23 degree limit while trying without pausing.

You should see the man as soon as the flight loads, you waggle the rudders to make him wave to the tug-pilot to start the launch.
The problem is that some addons (ground services?) interfere (due to Asobo's layered virtual file system) and the chap goes home early and doesn't appear.

Ah, okay -thanks for the info. Incidentally, I wasn't aware AH had ever done a large Boeing.

EDIT: The Boeing 307 Stratoliner - just now remembered it.
Not sure about Boeings bigger than the 307, but back in the day AH did not a VC-10 and a DC-8 for JF, personally I liked both of those.

A Boeing 707 by AH will be a day one buy for me, if the rumors are true that is.
