I just finished reading Bill Yenne's Aces High book about Majors Richard Bong and Tommy McGuire in the Pacific Campaign flying P-38s while flying back from another TDY assignment. What glorious careers as Pacific USAAF aces! YET, I was disappointed that both of them gave their lives for our country. I still fully intend to complete the missions and campaign for CFS2 to honor their sacrifices. It will just take some time and some help from all of you brothers at arms here on the SOH. With my recent PCS and new assignments, I am finding little time to work on missions. However, I am committed to "getting there"........... I will get them into basic mission format in MB.

Its sounds like it would be a nice addition to the CFS2 historical mission collection. I cannot wait for its future upload. Thank you ahead of time!:applause:

Interesting that then Major Johnson's first "victory" in a Jug was a CAC Wirraway of the RAAF. At least the Aussie pilot was able to hit the silk and survive.......

There are several pilots of interest in the 5th FEAAC.

Neel Kearby, also was interesting, as was COL MacDonald.

I like flying some of the Jugs available, so I am sure I can get to some missions with Jerry Johnson at some point in time. Perhaps after Bong returns to the States and McGuire is KIA.

I remember reading the Dick Bong story over 40 years ago.Very good book. Many people don't realize his first mission in NG was in a P-39 because the P-38's hadn't arrived yet in NG.He just wanted some experience.

Another good book was Pappy Gunn,he was the one that added alot of the extra guns on the B-25 while in the Pacific. The gunships they became was mostly because of him.I think he also was the first to put the cannon on it.It was another interesting book.
