Funny but unnerving

Nice to see that homeless people over in the US have a sense of humour, a good one even.

But quite unnerving to see that the richest country on earth would rather see it's citizens go homeless and not provide a social security system worthy of that name.

I betcha that all the money that was wasted on the missile defence system and the F-22 Raptor would have easily taken care of that...

A shame...

Strange how everyone conceive the US to be the richest nation in the world, when the PRC holds all our credit!

All of the Scandinavian countries, in particular Norway, have a better standard of living than the US. Only 5% of the US holds any money, there but for the fortune of a job, the rest of us are on the brink of bankruptcy.

The missle-defense systems, F-22's, Nimitz-class carriers, etc. are all designed to insure that the REST OF US don't become like the homeless. . .

How many homeless have you taken into your house recently ? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Why don't you try to go find something productive to do with your life, you sound like someone else I know.

However your intelligence factor needs readjusted. China is the richest country in the world ... after all they're funding the debt of the U.S., and oddly enough, none of those people in those photos looked chinese to me.

This current administration has no intention of helping it's own people, its trying to rob its own people for the sake of handing out billions of dollars to terrorist organizations and other whiner countries ... like yours.

And when was the last time the U.K. did a ball check?

However, getting back on topic ...

I did like number two ... LOL!

i see signs like that all the time here. there are bums in front of every store begging for change. for the last 3 years, everyone who has asked me for $$ i have invited to my house for something to eat. not one of them has taken me up on the offer. sometimes they have the nerve to ask me for $$ when they are in their 20's, healthy looking, and wearing new clothes and shoes. i'm not going to be their enabler just so i can have a feel-good moment, and i won't promote a socialist agenda in the misguided belief that giving these people money will make them go away. i have actually been homeless. twice. i climbed out of it without beggin for change, and without any handouts. without welfare or food stamps. by my bootstraps.
i don't like beggars or the people who buy their drugs and alchohol.

Shame? Not really, most of these homeless people did ALOT of wrong things to get where they are. They made bad choice after bad choice after bad choice, and most likely told the people around them to piss off while they were making all of their bad choices. Some of these homeless aren't even homeless. They're panhandlers who dress down and dirty up for the part, and go out and make a little money. I have a friend who participated in a University study that wanted to guage peoples attitudes toward homeless individuals. He made himself look bad, constructed a "woe is me" cardboard sign, and went out and made 63.82 US Dollars over about a five hour period.

Wut????

Where did you get that I'm from the UK? I'm not.

Also, your current administration, in stark contrast to the last one, is trying to get the people of the US medicare worthy of that name, it's cleaning up the mess left by the republican bush administration and trying to get the US back to the respected position among the nations of the world that it once had.

As to my " intelligence factor" (intelligence will do nicely for those of us who speak english), I am the proud and happy holder of two degrees.

You republicans are just sore loosers, nothing more and you people have no sense of humanity in your body whatsoever.

There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your fellow man, but republicans apparently feel there is.

Honestly, I don't think it has anything to do with Republicans or Democrats anymore...those are just the names of a "team", if you will. They may have some signature tactics that enable you to ID them as one or the other, but the problem in American politics is the shear size of it. What brings the system down is agenda and compromise. There are too many levels of agenda, and it goes all the way down to deception and subterfuge. There are so many compromises at play that none of the players are really getting anything usefull done. A good program/plan that is run through the pork-and-compromise machine ends up being virtually useless. Couple that with the mindset that the US is going to save all the fish from drowning, and you have a FUBAR mess. However, we aren't the biggest mess in the world, so please keep that in mind.

Why does every comment you make have to turn to politics? This was meant to be funny. These "so-called" homeless(only because we have so many who really aren't homeless but like to scam people) have a better sense of humor than you do. There is no reason for anyone to remain homeless in this country. We have tons of programs including food and shelter programs, and job search facilities which I volunteer at. Take this OSOs if you want to argue your points.

Caz,

First of all, I'm sorry if I offended you, but the fact is, that if you look at the GNP of the US, the US is the biggest economy of the world with one of the highest income per capita in the world. I do agree with you however that wealth in the US is very unevenly devided.

I was under the impression that over here at "Newshawks" comments, even political ones were allowed.

If not, then I appologize.

I fail to see how expensive military projects like "missile-defense systems, F-22's, Nimitz-class carriers, etc..." keep people from becoming homeless.

Keeping the banks and the big corporations in check and closely observed by the people's representatives and having a decent social security system is what keeps people from becoming homeless.

I'm not surprised at all how you fail to see this. . .

Good luck - I'm out of this one for the sake of site tranquility -

... I believe the word should be divided.

Wealth is unevenly divided, but that is the nature of things. Wealth tends to go to the smartest people, with no discrimination between who is good or bad. The majority of the people qualify as average and below, and they tend to copy each other in the way they do things...which isn't always succesfull.

Maybe things are better in Belgium, but I wouldn't want to call it home.

I'm closing this as it's going nowhere fast.

people have been banned for just that
This is not a political forum.
