things were looking good.i got all my scenery sorted, the airbases installed for mr solomons scenery.so i thought i'd install the 3 pactex files.now its gone tits up,again.some of the new airbases are now under water and everything looks "blocky".mayday mayday.

Textures shouldn't cause what you describe scruff.

It could be a mesh hierarchy problem...a screenie or two would help.

I'd suggest you backtrack....go back to stock or the textures you had b4 and see if it is in fact a texture problem.

ok done that and what i found was that about a 3rd of all the bitmat images in scenedb/world/textures are scrambled.they just show a single borken verticle line instead of an image.did i install all the parts of pactex?i installed 3 parts but are there some missing?

So did backtracking solve the problem?
I haven't used Pactex in several years...but then textures are textures...you may have some bum ones if you have water on fields...hard to tell without a screenie.
BTW...the textures you described as vertical broken lines are normal...what are they...I don't know... maybe blenders???
I still think you may have an hierarchy prob...make sure mesh and addon airfields are at the bottom, but above terrain, of the in-sim scenery library

Yo Scruff;

Textures: These are just colourful coverings for an object or in the case of PacTex; the ground / water. Think of it this way: an object is like a cake, the texture is the icing. Simple right? Textures will not cause differences in elevation (like your sunken bases)

As for your corrupted texture files: try re-downloading the 3 PacTex parts & reinstall them. Could be some were funky in the 1st D/L.

Past that; write down the file names of the corrupted texture files so we can see what they are & figure out where they came from or if they are stock CFS2 files.

Sunken bases: I wonder if the bases in question are made by dog1? I remember reading something here in the forum recently about this glitch but cannot locate the thread.

BTW ..... YOU are buying ALL the rounds at the "O" club on Friday night!!!

Those scrambled textures you describe are meant to be there and are correct. They are IIRC the files used to blend between two scenery texture tiles so the join is blended and not straight lines.

From what you describe you need 3 more parts. Pactex comes in two versions, 1 and 2. Version one uses a,b,c,d,e,f,etc for it's parts and V2 uses 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc. or is it the other way around, it does become a little confusing, lol. Whichever version you are using make sure you have all the parts, although some of the stuff is optional, so check the readme file for details.

Some Good News

ok the dodgey looking files are 001b2m11,001h2m11,004b2m11 thru 004b2m17,005b2m11 thru 005b2m17.the list on all the way down.

These are all normal. No problem - nothing to get your panties in a knot about.

I have put the Pactex 1, 2, & 3 in my 2nd PTO install recently plus MR's new Solomons. Have had zero trouble with them.

I ask once again:
WHO MADE THE BASES THAT ARE SUNKEN OR SCREWED UP?

or

What are the names of them?

In order to solve this problem we require detailed info.

Try this also... Copy all the textures in your SceneDB/World/Textures folder and then paste them into your main cfs2 Textures folder. This needs to be done with the newer sceneries coming out.

As For the Pactex, you need parts 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5 are alternate and optional textures. Get the basics working first then play with the optional.

ive done what you a said about scene folder in cfs main but its still screwed.
