The "magic genie" is called "GMax, Notepad2, GIMP and Google". ;P
It made my favourite planes come true...
The other ingredient for the "magic genie" is plenty of enthusiasm; without that the others are worthless. I have lost mine lately; so 3ds Max, Photoshop and the other tools lie unused on my hard drive.
As in real life, I only fly the aircraft... I don't build them or maintenance them. I leave that to the professionals. People who can model aircraft, create textures, build FDEs, write gauges, and sounds have my full respect... but I am not one of them.
Ok Bjoern, enough is enough. You seem to take great joy in trashing this airplane every time there's a thread about it. Your comments in this thread have had absolutely nothing to do with the original subject and unless you have pertinent information about the current WIP of the Super Saber, please keep your comments to yourself. I don't care what you think about the F-100 and neither does anyone else who is a fan of the airplane. I personally don't care for the Tornado, but I don't go looking for every opportunity to show my ignorance by jumping into another thread and bashing it.. . . . . . . .If you're not willing to contribute, then don't request unless asked to.
No offense, but that's just my personal take on things.
That model looks super nice and smooth Michael. I have this book with a million side views of huns showing 1-4 aircraft form every unit in the world ! This one is a painters nightmare/dream depending on how you want to put it. Oh and I talked to Ron today...
Michael,
It is nice to hear of your interest in the US Air Forces in Europe. Having a passion for aircraft is a beautiful thing, and appreciating the history and the lives of all the people the aircraft affected is even more beautiful. I'm sure that it goes a long way towards making development possible, and making an enduring aircraft in FSX.
I'm sure all developers feel strongly about the aircraft they develop -- but having a historical and emotional connection is very nice.
We are lucky to have this simulator that allows us to connect to machines and experiences that have passed on.
I want to thank all of the developers who even consider working on such an aircraft.... it really makes me feel good to know other people care about this machine and its storied past.
Cheers,
Chris
P.S. I received an E-mail today from Virtavia. They think they may have an F-100D model by early 2012... but it could always get pushed back or pushed up. They still need to do the VC. I hope they don't mind me sharing that information, I just sent them an e-mail through their web site, and they got back to me in a few hours.... pretty good customer support it would seem.
I only found out recently that we had land based nuclear missiles in the UK, the Thor missile was based at several locations in the East of England, some old converted air bases, one being RAF Tuddenham near Lakenheath and Mildenhall. Thor missiles arrived in a C-97 and then transported by road to the disused and converted RAF bomber command airfield.
Funnily enough I know exactly where you're coming from Michael!
I've not opened up the Hustler since last August - and to be fair I don't miss the modelling side much, but I do feel an element of guilt in that I have a good exterior Hustler model in need of a new VC, that needs to see the light of day in FSX.
Perhaps after Summer.....who knows.
I think a well deserved break can't do any harm.
So, as you see it, unless an individual takes the effort to learn the necessary tools to basically "Do it themselves", then they aren't worthy? lol, Please.. . . . . .I'd continue on to ramble about the connection between desire and willingness to learn the associated tools to get this plane into FSX, but as usual, it's just a waste of time, server space and bandwidth.
lol, why would we want to do that. . .you've already said it was a crap airplane and I certainly have other things I could spend $20 on, lol.Hint: If one wants to fly a F-100, invest $20 or whatever a Strike Fighters title costs nowadays and get the plane, suitable loadout plus the ability to blow stuff up on the ground and in the air.

Here is where I posted the images of some of the textures I had painted for the Virtavia version a couple of years ago. It's still a WIP in progress (hopefully) as is everything else over there until the C-17 is finished and shipped.Whoever posted the Virtavia F-100 pics with the Thunderbird paint job, please feel free to do it again.
