KA-3B Skywarrior

It seems that I need to have an ai helo with the sim.cfg, not the aircraft.cfg. Does anyone here know how to turn this into that so it can flhy planeguard in aicarriers? Otherwise, I will post over at FSDevelopers. If you can, I will pack up my file and PM it to you. I just don't want to not be able to use it.

Here is the entry for the Sea King that comes with the payware AS Big E in my aicarriers.cfg. Do this with all sorts of plane guards, USN, Royal Navy. There are a number of freeware models. They are essentially AI boat models. They must have FSX models to show in P3Dv4+. Unfortunately, some of these were by Lazurus (LLS) eg. Seasprite, HUP, and no longer in the Library. I keep them in the Boats folder btw.

I have both the Helio Seasprite and Seaking working perfectly as you can see in a screenshot I shot of it off the port side of the Roosevelt in this post. I tried to convert the HUP-2 using the same values in sim.cfg from the Seasprite just with its model and texture but aicarriers says it won't load it. It's disappointing but I don't have to use it and just move from 1960 to 1966 with CVW-1 on the FDR in the Med. Happy with that and just change the repaints on the statics on deck and the aircraft I will fly like the KA-3B which will be VAH-10 not VAH-11. No biggie. Thank you for your information.
 
Guess what all ye that follow my thread...here is the HUP-2 Retriever off the port side of the FDR in the Med in 1957. I changed the model file to the same one as the flyable on and left the sim.cfg as copied from the Seasprite and "lo and behold"

I forgot to specify the texture file because there IS only one texture in the Seasprite sim.cfg so it's blue, but I do not see losing it and will have it in the time i want to fly off the CVA-42 in the Med. Thank you Lord for the inspiration this morning.
 
Success, well almost. I shot this screenshot with the proper texture. The rotors are still. So I opened up the model and in object heirarchy changed the animation of the rotors to "rotor blurred" but that did not change it. I may have to change the dds to a blurred rotor nothing but in the ai not the flyable one and see how that works. But in the meantime I am a "happy camper". YAY! I was unable to animate the rotors so I will be happy with it as it is. Gotta be something in the model I am sure. Hey, it's working, that's great.

OK I'll try that. I changed all the rotor animations to prop0 animations but that didn't make any difference. Expat sent me the AI package for the HUP but the textures are not the same and there is no paintkit. I may try and match up the Rosey's repaint to fit the Navy repaint he sent after trying IT in aicarriers to see if IT has rotating rotors. Otherwise it's a waste of time and effort to fit the texture. Time will tell! Thanks to you both for trying to get these "fershnikity" rotors to rotate.

Thanks to expat for his ai model for the HUP, the rotor problems are fixed. Now I just have to figure out how to repaint it with different texture maps for the flyable one and the ai one. WHY????????? I know I can do that. If I could repaint an iFly B737 with their texture map nightmare I can do this. Let's not even talk about Carenado...

Because of the way the texture was laid out for the HUP-3 AI that expat sent I tried to get the Rosey's paint to work by cut and paste in layers in Photoshop but it just didn't work. So, I went back into MDCx in the object heirarchy and changed values to match other ai helos designed for that purpose like the VEH Sh3 Seaking from SDB Enterprise and I got rotors to rotate, slowly but they DO rotate and look ok so that is enough work. Glad I got it to work like it is and I am moving on the other aircraft repaints on the FDR in CVG-1.
