Kamikazes and other repaints by UncleTgt

I'll use this thread to post pics of my progress developing a wider range of kamikaze a/c

First up, Thicko's D4Y3 Judy made into a single seat D4Y4 with an 800kg bomb semi-recessed into the belly. The Judy was one of the more successful kamikaze a/c, its fast, & already equipped to control its speed in the terminal dive ...

basically Morten's repaint with new tail codes, & the existing crew & rear MG alpha'd out.

next, a reworking of the OH Ki-43 Oscar to represent a late war Ki-43 IIc or KAI model with individual exhaust stubs. The repaint is of a worn out a/c from the 71st Independent Fighter Chutai. This unit operated from Sumatra & the Andaman Islands during '44, & was the first air-to-air opposition for many of the FAA Corsair squadrons as they moved east. Not strictly a kamikaze a/c, but a nice base paint to develop some shimbu-tai paints from...

Rabaul - based Gekkos

Some early war Gekkos - created as a spin-off from converting to represent a late war kamikaze ...

J1N1-C recon bird & the J1N1C-KAI

UncleTgt,

This looks great. Is it wrong, though, that I was expecting to find a lizard? (We have a series of bad commercials here in the States where there is a gekko that helps sell insurance)

D3 Val

Unfortunately not a D3A2, but it'll do. The OH stocker with crew & rear MG alpha'd out & pilot replaced with Wolfis IJN pilot.
Oh, & a new coat of paint!

I hope to have some a/c packs ready to upload in a few days ...

OMG!!! Fast Gekkos and Judy's as kamikazes! Guess i better scramble the hot new F4UB's and FG1's for "supersonic" intercepts...:biggrin-new:

Great looking skins Uncle :encouragement:

Those look very accurate and very well done thanks so much for all that work.

and by the by what water textures are you using those look very nice. Is that a version of Pacific Blue?

Dear parents.
Please congratulate me. I have been given a splendid opportunity to die. The destiny of our homeland hinges on the decisive battle in the seas to the south where I shall fall like a blossom from a cherry tree.

Cris, just look for any of my recent scenery packs, they all include the same water texture set-up. The textures themselves are a blend of Jimko's Pacific Blues & Shessi's wave effect water textures, with elements of Jean Bomber's coral thrown in as well.

Jimko's set provides the base pallette, toned down a little to better blend through the atolls.

The Caroline Islands & Atolls (including Truk), New Britain & New Ireland have all been remodelled this way.

Nice work, UncleTgt

Very nice looking scenery (above post) that I missed and don't have yet, so I'll get them and install. Thank You!

wow thanks. you have finally cracked the code on water textures, i worked for months trying to tame that horrid green pacific the vanilla sim gave us and finally surrendered because i wanted to get some of Jean's great coral in and also get better blues. I will definitely try yours and collect your sceneries, i have been out of touch sorry about that but plan to reinstall with all of the new stuff and hope to get it all set up right so i can contribute more.

i had to take some time to perfect my skills at ship building and have finally been able to start making my own ships, and buildings, trees and textures. your work looks really really nice.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Skins - Japanese

Description: Akemi early war J1N1 Gekkos skinpack by UncleTgt

These are a collection of repaints for akemi's J1N1 Gekko for CFS 2.

The aircraft are:
J1N1-C
151ku Rabaul, MAR43

J1N1-C KAI
251ku Rabaul, JUL43

I created the recon -C model rear cockpit glass by creating an alpha mask.

The -C KAI model is akemi's standard J1N1-S model with a new paint job.

Also includes, kelti prop & exhaust effects added to the dp.

To install, copy your mz-j1n1s aircraft & rename it mz-j1n1c for the recon model, or mz-j1n1c_KAI for the nightfighter -C KAI model. Unzip this download to a temporary location and place your chosen files in the correct folder(s) for the mz-J1N1C or J1N1C_KAI within the aircraft folder in your CFS2 Main Directory. Back up any originals first & allow to overwrite.

Thanks to

Akemi for the original a/c.

Kelti for inspiring exhaust effects & prop disks.

Matrin Wright for his mdlmat & DXTbmp programmes.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions
