Keitel's Ar-234B Blitz

I've been playing with Keitel's Ar-234B Blitz and have some questions.

I have managed to massage Tango Romeo's exhaust package to the point where I can get that neat effect on both the port and starboard engines ... BUT I'M HAVING A HELL OF A TIME GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THE RATO EFFECT!

Now there was a Ju-88 rigged up with it that was triggered by the "W" key (WEP boost) ... but this is a jet and there in no provision for that in the jet engine airfile.

I'd like to have this one-shot, short duration effect to be triggerable separately from 80%+ throttle ... so instead of "W" WEP boost, might it be possible to key it off "A" After burner, since this is a jet aircraft? If yes ... how the heck do I do that?

Thanks gurus!:banghead:

I'm off to bed!

Hi Wilhelm,
I don't know if that's possible?? I don't think CFS2 has an afterburner as an airfile option.

Possibly(?!) what you could do is make it a 4 engined ac i.e. 2 standard jet engines and 2 virtual rocket engines. Make the rocket engines with limited burn time, thrusting from the location of the RATO pods. Maybe use an Me163 airfile for reference and then limit the burn time to what you want ie 30 secs.
So when you start the engines and go to full take-off thrust all four engines will be giving thrust, after a set time the 2 virtual rockets engines 'run out of fuel' simulating the RATO pods running out of fuel. You then release the RATO pods.

Would this work or am I mad?!......:d

Other examples of rocket power are at http://www.simviation.com/luft46/ in the download section.

Bearcat is certainly a guru for airfiles, so he may be able to help!

Shessi!

Thanks for that ... I will chug on down that road and see what happens. I appreciate that we do have some limitations (both in CFS2 and personally) ... but my mind is a DANGEROUS PLACE (just ask Bearcat!!!)

Thanks!

Hi Bill

i know it's a lo-tech, quick'n'dirty fix but have you assigned a button to the reheat option? I use it to simulate catapult launches for Korea/Vietnam by turning the effect on and off.

Hmmm....
So I wonder if true 're-heat' is available in CFS2 airfiles then? Or is it just that the temporary extra power that's available in piston engined ac is available in all aircraft airfiles? It would therefore represent nicely re-heat/catapaulting/jato/rato in jet engined ac?

If it's not in Hauke's airfile you'll have to insert it. Also you would have to turn it on and off, although I've used this effect (NOS/over-boost/water injection) in piston engined ac and it has been time/amount limited. Time for a play I think!

Cheers
