Ki 49 Helen skin

Good choice since the JAAF and the IJN can a use little more attention as of lately. I just like the different textures for the Japanese AC. Some of them are real pretty. Its a shame that we have to destroy them.

The still & slow prop blades are mapped to a transparent texture file. It can be (kinda) fixed by removing the alpha channel in the 'prop' .bmp.
 
I just uploaded a tweaked prop texture. Makes the prop blades visible & they have a more accurate late war Japanese pattern. The spinning blades are constantly 'feathered :costumes:, but it is a trade off.

I am not sure but the panel doesn't belong to the 'helen' ... am I wrong...? anybody knows where can i find it...?

I am a happy enduser and will for sure grab all of these.

As a thank you, I can offer a tweaked modelfile with nicer glassparts. They can`t be shined due to the old model, but at least - they don`t look so milky anymore.

Is there a way we could have the model mapped for a real blurred propeller texture file?

I tried in any way to get rid of the spinning blades in the disc, but there's no way to do it unless deleting the still propeller texture altogether. :help:

IF someone could come up with a source file, it would be do-able. I suppose that it could also be accomplished with scasm.. The still,slow & spinning prop parts all seem to be mapped to the same .bmp.
 
I have tried a solution in renaming the called textures.
There are 4 entries in the model, where the prop texture is called. But only No 3 & 4 are for the actual appearance in the game.

Problem is: No3 is for the right propellers (still AND spinning) blades, No4 for the other one.

So renaming failed.
My current solution is: I renamed the prop texture to prpX.bmp - a texture, which is not to find in the plane´s or main texture folder.

This way, we have untextured still standing blades - and invisible ones, when spinning.

BTW: To a certain point, it is possible to color the untectured parts of the interiour! But which colour is right for that? A dark green, or the cyan-blue of some other japanese fighters?
 
Just an FYI for those of you who are historically inclined....

Both 7th and 61st Sentai KI-49's were also active in PNG. There is a wreck of one still at Madang.

A/C had radar & I believe was expended in kamikaze attacks off japan, but my attempts at putting antennae on it & configuring as low level kamikaze were unsuccessful - needs more thought.

Meantime, here's the skin anyway.

Uncle, do you have any images of the Radar antennae? I created some for allied aircraft that install as weapons and could probably modify them for your needs.
