I think the law should read that if you intrude into somebody's house, with or without a weapon, you are giving your "implied consent" to being beat up, shot or knifed by the occupant with whatever level of force he/she sees fit to defend self and property.

I recall a similar news account a few years back where a guy tried to rob an "elderly" man and found that the "old fart" he had decided to rob was a WW2 USMC combat vet who saw plenty of heavy action in the Pacific. Fortunately, the Marine still had enough vim and vigor to defend himself....unfortunately for the would be robber, that vim and vigor was enough for the Jar Head to choke him to death! Which is how the event ended up: USMC geezer stabbed but alive, would be robber dead on the floor after having his airway totally constricted by his intended target.

I thought one couldn't use self-defense in the UK anymore. Well, not literally, but that many think the criminal has a right to "make" his living without trouble from victims. I know I'm being simplistic, but the "feeling" is there.

Now this is my kind of story . Too bad he could'nt have broken both legs too on the little creep then they could have thrown his a-- in a nursing home for 2 or 3 months with two casts on and handcuffed to the bed railing . That would have given the little bast--d some time to think about it .
