• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

'Korea: The "Forgotten" War'

Not forgotten here in Chicagoland either. The VFW were out "in force" yesterday collecting donations for wounded veterans, and distributing "Forget Me Not" blue poppies...

Although I didn't see them myself, I know that the American Legion were likewise present and accounted for... :salute:

Thanks for the HU on that blog P, my father and 2 uncles served with the UN "Peace Keeping" force in Korea, my dad died in 59 and I never really got to know him, but I have some great pics and stories of his time serving in that "conflict".

My father and two uncles served in the Korean war. All are still living so definitely not forgotten. The youngest uncle served with me in Vietnam.

The term "Forgotten" was given to the Korean Conflict (was never technically considered a war) because WWII and Vietnam got all the news.

If you ever visit the Korean Monument in D.C. you can see this reflected in the statues of the soldiers. It is like they are ghosts or shapes. Very little detail on the faces of the men. I found it eerie.

Great phots, but the repetitive parts of the captions in the first dozen ones were annoying.

There used to be a three hour documentation about the war on Youtube, but it has been removed.
