Land Rovers, Payware, and Gray Eyebrows

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey all,

A couple of pics of me by my old Landy, which is now gone.

Photo with younger guy is me about 10 to 12 years ago, (not 88 as seen in the photo).

Photo with older guy is a developer after several years of Gmax and payware.

Note; the Landy looks like it faired quite well through it all. :d

So what are you driving now, Bill? A Ferrari !?

:)

LOLOLOL.....

no..

I have a brilliant ole Q-45, circa 1995. The thing looks almost brand new. Incredible condition. I am happy with her. A real blessing.

Ive been following your bike runs (motorcycles) on Facebook. Must be nice. All those mountain roads in Europe, taking photos along the way. A dream life....

We all have our dreams and sometimes life looks greener on the other end of the valley..... But you are right, I am not complaining and doing the things we love when we still can. :)

Bill.... Seriously.... a Discovery? or what looks to be a Disco...

Anyone fancy a 'Snatch Rover', where majority of my experience lies along with Pinkies and Dinkies

'Dinkie' is just a Long Wheelbase (Defender 109/110 Chassis), and the Snatch...

Some cool Landy pics guys.

:ernae:

A funny story. I was assigned to meet our head of Advertising for LR North America. I was to take prototype number 6 of the new, secret P-38 series to Sedona for a photoshoot. Remove camouflage when we get there, shoot it, bring it home fast. If I wreck it, do not return. (That I think he meant).

My chase car with a friend in it, was a red 'Dinky'? (Red Land Rover 2 door 90", super basic, no interior except your dash and seats).

So there we are on cliffs, mountain roads, sides of hills, beautiful river streams on bridges slightly under water in rain forest like surroundingds with little cottages... Everyone is just driving by, and we were sweating thinking we are going to get photographed by a magazing like Road and Track. Well, people were taking photos alright, but not of the P-38. It was the Landy, lololol... They loved it! That thing attracked more people. One group finally stopped and said 'What is that!?' The person from advertising (great guy) starts telling them, they said, 'no.. the red thing. What is that?' He was speechless. I think it was on that day that LR was going to decide to bring the Land Rovers into America. They did pretty good here. High priced, but they sold.

I think they could have sold a zillion that were basic models for a competitive price. Thats my own humble opinion.

Here's a photo from that photo shoot. You cant tell, but I am stairing into the dash as its at an extreme level. Cant tell in the photo. Sweat was flowing out of my forehead, that bosses phrase kept replaying.. 'You wreck it... dont return, eh?'

Bill

Feng,

Is that in Africa?

ChaCha,

Thanks for the nice comment on my scary looks and intimidating gray hair (eyebrows especially)

:d

It's deep in the jungles of Malaysia actually. I'd love do something like this in Africa though.
