Last A2A Spit repaint from me for a while

IanP

Didn't quite escape.
Sorry this is just a cut and paste from the A2A forums, but I need to get away and wanted to let anyone here who may be interested know that I'd done it too...

At least for a while, I have no intention of creating any more repaints for this model. The reasons being purely that:

a) They're all pretty much the same, but with different letters

and

b) I ran out of airfields. Oh well.

Anyway. The last of the batch is L1038, FY-P, belonging to 611 Squadron, initially based at RAF Digby, but later moving to the general tour of 11 Group air bases that filled the life of many fighter squadrons during the Summer of 1940.

The repaint may not be 100% accurate, as the code and registration are taken from Alan Lake's "Flying Units of the RAF", while the insignia and positioning are based on drawings of Sgt. W. Duncan Smith's aircraft, X4253 / FY-N. I'd have done that one, but it has an insignia under the port canopy front which I cannot recreate without larger source information.

So if you want to fly out of Digby in a Digby based aircraft, here it is. You can also use it realistically out of Hornchurch, as 611 visited there at least once during their tour of 11 Group.

Thanks Ian, it looks great.

and yes, you're right, they are all more or less the same, which is why I stopped painting the Spit as well.
